70 % of Singapores education leavers have become Short sighted.

I found this disturbing that so many school of College leavers in Singapore have ended up with Myopia or can not see clearly far away in the distance.

Its suggested the lifestyle that they lead along with the pressures to study. Resulting in much close up viewing over long periods maybe resulting in eyestrain or effecting the eye muscles.

Singapore is  #1 in the world for the prevalence of childhood myopia in seven to nine year olds.

This is one Singapore statistic that we’d all like to change. Whether it’s because of all the studying children do, genetic factors, or lighting conditions, myopia is extremely common in Singapore.

I'm myopic as well, although it comes and goes to a degree.  I think nutrition and particularly blood sugar has a lot to do with it.

I would be curious to know on average in the western world where nutrition overall is suggested better..what % of the population is short sighted ..say compared to a generation or two ago...

I wonder if the likes of people studying more, watching TV or looking at Computer screens.. if they have made persons short sighted more than before the above became about ...

It is said often that myopia is due to changes in the shape of the eye..which may or may not be due to natural growth...what I am not sure is can it be down to eye muscles say under more strain that alters the eyes shape..

I have seen claims that its possible to correct myopia naturally and that eyewear such as glasses or contact lens  is bad for ones eyes other than in terms of when say  driving or when one needs to be looking in the distance...that if possible do not wear optical aid more than one needs to do so...

That opticians do not tell us the truth as they want to sell us glasses...

There may be some truth to that !
