MagickNode.org is now online.
« on: August 27, 2014, 11:05:01 PM »
My new forum, MagickNode.org is now online.  Memberships are set to admin approval only, which means I'm going to have to be vigilant about people trying to register; it took me two days to notice Amy.  Given what Zorgon has said about spammers, I figured that would be the best.

Guest access is also non-existent, I'm afraid.  This is because my last forum, the Sphere of Kether, had drama where certain individuals (not from here) with nefarious/paranoid intent, who did not actually want to register, would simply lurk as Guests and spy on whoever was writing there.

Although the forum is currently empty, I need to get around to building some resource stickies in the various subject forums, and I'm willing to grant sticky posting access for anyone else who would like to lend their expertise to the relevant forum.  As I'm sure Zorgon will notice, my topic scope is rather different from his.  At least for the time being, there also aren't going to be any private or exclusive groups over there, such as the Inventor's Group here; and while Amy has been given certain extended permissions within the Aquarian Civilisation category, (which includes her own forum, and others which she is likely to also be interested in) it is unlikely that there will be any other moderators or administrators as such.  This is intended to avoid drama.

My rules are also intentionally extremely vague and simple.  I have seven.

1.  The site belongs to me, and as such, I reserve the right to delete anything, or ban anyone, for any reason or no reason at all.  This is, however, tempered by the fact that given that the site is going to be primarily invite-only, I am not going to arbitrarily hand out bans.

2.  No potentially illegal statements, activities, or advocacy of such.

3.  Wheaton's Law.  ("Don't be a <censored>.")

4.  The topic scope of forums will be enforced.  There are general forums; if you want to post off-topic stuff, use them.

The last three are from the Rules of the Internet:-

8.  [Aside from the above,] there are no real rules about posting.
9.  There are no real rules about moderation either - enjoy your ban.
12.  Anything you say can [but not necessarily will] be used against you.

This is to protect both me and other users.  If I do not have a meticulous set of fine print, then I can't potentially get my hands tied behind my back by a barracks-room lawyer who is trying to avoid a ban.

The other reason why I have kept things this open-ended, is because I am not necessarily either neutral or impartial, and I believe that it is better to be honest about that, and make no claim to be, rather than be like Wikipedia, which still does have very strong biases, but attempts to hide them behind extreme legalism which is then used as Pharisaic justification for censorship.

Again, this does not mean that anything goes in practice.  It simply means that my form of moderation is going to be extremely fluid.  If you are someone who I value, you will generally get a warning for a first offense, rather than being banned outright.  The rule about illegality however is there explicitly, and has to be.

As an additional request, please post in this thread, when you have registered an account on my forum, so that I will know to approve you.

If you get a discussion about Qabbalistic research going then drop me a PM and I'll come and take a look.  I don't have time to spend on too many forums but I try to follow developments in the field for philosophical/scientific/metaphysical insights.

It's a nice looking forum and I appreciate that the dark with light text is retained.  Reading dark on light messes with My eyes in short order.  [smile]

I thought I'd paste the contents of my first resources sticky here, if anyone is interested.  This is my initial resources list for the Alternative Mathematics subforum.

#----------+introduction----------
Because this is a multi-span post, you can use your browser's search function to navigate between spans.  Press Control-F if using Firefox, or the equivalent in Chrome or another browser, and type "-+egy" without the quotes, to be taken to the beginning of the span about Egyptian Mathematics.
#----------.introduction----------

#----------+egyptian-mathematics----------
This is Michael Schneider's initial presentation on Egyptian Mathematics:-

The above video is an excerpt from the Magical Egypt documentary series, which is well worth watching:-

And here is Mothnrust's sequel to Michael Schneider's video above, which demonstrates how to use the Egyptian system for dealing with fractions or decimal numbers:-

#----------+vedic-mathematics----------
Gaurav Tekriwal's TED presentation on Vedic Mathematics:-

Hinduism.co.za's resources on Vedic Mathematics:-

#----------.vedic-mathematics----------

#----------+ancient-knowledge----------
This is the first video in the Ancient Knowledge series, which describes the mathematics behind the anti-gravity technology which was possibly used to construct some of the Egyptian pyramids, as well as the more modern structure of Coral Castle.

I did not think I was going to be allowed to, either; but Zorgon said to start a thread, so I did.

We have never stopped members from linking to other sites.  It's a bit cheeky leaving the formatting in from your own page though, Petrus. ::)  :o
