Well, I do see your point to a degree, however a Palestenian women
might be agreed to sacrificing her life in Jihad, if she is a Muslim.

Obviously, Jihad is a Muslim thing.

Though, she might change her mind if she had a few years of freedom
in a neigboring country, such as Israel where she could learn what
it is like to be a free woman in her own right, rather than a peice of
property that belongs to a Palestinian man.

i gew up with a muslim girl in school.she was married off at sixteen but stayed in school.she married a saudi prince.i think she tolerated it by choice.their age difference was only a few years apart.last time i saw her on fb,she was living better than most americans.but for poor muslims,i would say its worse than most places on the planet except india and africa.

How is that I was basing my opinion on a stereotype?
I thought I  was thinking along the lines of the Qur'an.

However, I would admit being a western woman probably
gives me a pair of glasses to look through that are anything
but rose colored in viewing the role of women in an Islamic
ruled society. So...taking that into account I suppose that
makes me somewhat "biased"

i have read it through twice,it is a religion of violence.there are a few good stories in it but i choose to be agnostic.
in their ignorance,they too chose not to elevate their strong women.to their own destruction.
a preacher of any type is the devils tool if there ever was one.
but even buddism says put down a murderer.are not all governments murderers?
text is cheap.are we all willing to do whats right or what is easy.

While I will agree that the signal to noise ratio is much lower than in most religions, there still is some genuine value to be found in Islamic theology.  The problem these days, is primarily the behaviour of individual Muslims.  Contrast the above verse with the contemporary belief that any who live outside the ummah are to be put to the sword.

This may seem inconsistent with my previous rantings about Islam as a religion on this forum; but the truth of the matter is that Islam is largely two religions within one.  There are directives within it for good and decent behaviour, and there are directives for barbarism; and you will find Muslims who adhere to both.  Each group also believes that his way is proper, and that whoever does the opposite is an apostate.

Mohammed may well have been a barbarian; my perspective on that issue has not changed much.  My own limited angelic contact, however, has led me to believe that he did have a genuine divine commission.  It is possible that as violent as he was, the other Arabs alive at the time were simply worse.  In my observation, the Gods are opportunists; they make do with what they can find.

My primary grievance with Muslims, is not that their religion is spiritually illegitimate; but rather, that they seem to have great difficulty in recognising that legitimacy in the religions of other people.
