Members Classifieds

Greetings all...

I have decided the easiest way to do this is simply create an area where members can post items they have for sale that would be of specific interest to other members. Unlike Ebay or other sale sights this is simply a listing service like placing an ad in your local news paper.

At this time as this is a trial service there will be NO FEE for posting items.  I will be monitoring this area closely but I am going to try the honor system for this service.

Please do not spam the area with tons of stuff but feel free to link to any items you have listed on Etsy or Ebay etc...

I will lock this thread and use it to place ads for specific members that have sent a request to post ongoing ads that have offered a small fee.

Members are free to;
A) Start a new thread with their items
B) Start a category thread for similar items

If this works out we will see where we can go with it in the future. We have the handy 'Donate' button available that if you feel the service worked for you, you can drop a tip in the jar :D

This is also a good place to post WANTED ads for things you are seeking or services you may have to offer or need.

So lets use common sense here so we don't need to police this area. Please don't post porn and other illegal items... anything like that is already in the rules and WILL be deleted and will likely get you a one way ticket out the door  8)

Most of it is simple common sense... you know what can and cannot be sold online. If you are in doubt about an item, just pm me and tell me what it is.

Any monetary arrangements between the seller and the buyer are YOUR responsibility.

I would SUGGEST strongly that you use only a paypal account to make sales as they offer both buyer and seller protection for a small fee.

Paypal holds the money until you confirm shipment. Buyer pays shipping charges. I also recommend you use shipping options that include tracking (free on all priority mail) That way they can't say they didn't get it :D

Paypal prints shipping labels and can charge you for postage. Online postage can be printed from USPS as well at a discount and the mailman picks it up at your door

be careful choosing the postage options. Took me a while to get it down pat so i didn't loose money on shipping. Don't forget that you have the expense of the packing material and the paypal fee. That is why it says Shipping and HANDLING :D

The post office provides you with FREE boxes for all Priority level mail and you can get them sent to your house. I use Priority mail for most things between 1 pound and 5 pounds.  Under a pound regular first class mail is cheapest. Over 5 lbs parcel post is slower but cheaper, or UPS.
Priority mail has the added advantage of FREE tracking and FREE boxes

They also have flat rate boxes... great for me shipping rocks because the limit is 70lbs. Most of my specimens are small enough to fit the flat rate boxes :D Good for me bad for mailman :P
