BigDog Gets New 'FacA-arm,' Hurls Cinder Blocks With Ease

Boston Dynamics is practically a household name around these geeky parts. The company is best known for its menacing robots, including but not limited to PETMAN, AlphaDog and BigDog. And now that last one, the 240-pound, three-foot-long, four-legged mule-bot has a fifth arm that can throw cinder blocks across the room.

Well now, Big Dog is a bit scarier...
He is still pretty noisy, so you could hear him coming.

Still, pretty impressive for a robot.
Not as impressive as if it was outfitted with
a gun turret, or lasers....

The Ultimate Goal?
"the ultimate goal for BigDog is to develop a robot that can go anywhere people and animals can go."

They are not satisfied with the Drones alone to harass and come after us...

Now its terminator or Robo Cop style  "Rottweiler Rover" type dogs as well !  :(

I am not even sure if I have seen such things in Sci Fi Movies.

I wouldn't normally consider cruelty to dogs as such, but If I had a coming after me and I had a Bozooka I know what I would consider doing with it..

Yes, honestly what I thought of when I saw this
was "Terminator".  All of them, and got a chill.

The drones are a reality to be feared, this thing
coupled with them, well that is a scene right from
science fiction....though not much longer it seems.

This is what happens when 21st century technology is paired with 16th century thinking.  When you watch this, let it remind you of why Amaterasu keeps emphasising that ethics are so important.

I understand that this sort of thing seems to be turning Zorgon in particular into a complete Luddite, when in reality he is missing the point.

Technology of this magnitude is a force multiplier, and absolutely nothing more.  All it serves to do, is cause the intentions of its' inventors/users to be realised much more effectively and productively than if they weren't using it.

What this means, in a nutshell, is that if robotic technology is in the hands of evil, warmongering, mass-murdering psychopaths, then yes, it's going to generate nightmarish levels of death and misery unlike any that you've ever seen before.  If, on the other hand, such technology is in the hands of someone like Tesla, an enlightened altruist who wants to use it exclusively for the benefit of his fellow human beings, then you would get the opposite occurring; an absolute paradise.

It isn't the technology that is evil; it's human beings ourselves.  Technology is a magnifier; so it takes that evil and magnifies it.  If we were using it with loving, positive intentions, it would take those and magnify them and their results, as well.  That is all it does; and it is all it can do.

BigDog should not have been designed to do the things that it will be doing.  That is not what machines of this type should be used for.  A computer only does what it is told; it doesn't have the ability to understand whether what it does is right or wrong.  That is a decision that we are supposed to make.

You can hate me for defending machines here as much as you want, Zorgon; but if you knew the degree to which it breaks my own heart to see their development being abused in this manner, you might not hate me quite so much.

As long as there is but ONE evil hu-mon... there will be abuse of the machine. Hitler proved that and how easy it was to sway the others. Millions of Germans could have prevented it. Why didn't they? Because they were hungry, jobless and angry... and needed someone to blame. Hitler gave them a promise of abundance... and he began to fulfill that promise at the cost of others. By the time the people realized what that cost was, it was too late.

Tesla died alone and destitute because he did not have the desire or the will to use his own technology. The mass murdering psychopaths are here in droves and increasing. Just look at the news. The answer to humanity is not in the machine, no matter how much a slave you make it

If technology is magnifying the evil, then you have just given us a prime reason to get rid of technology. Now have YOU designed and created a robot that will do as you see your fantasy? Or are you leaving the design and creation up to the evil overlords and hoping another Tesla will appear and save the day?

Don't need your 'force multiplier' This technology is what is killing humaninty... keep your force multiplier... I prefer the original force... the one Jesus speaks of that can move mountains, that Yoda tells us flows through our very being...  Until we remember what we truly are, all these machines will do is destroy humanity

China once years ago sent the MACHINE into Tibet... today the old force is gathering strength and soon the Empire will fall and the true Jedi's can return...

I just came back from a flying trip to what I call "The Farm" as it is a farm that I just came back from!

After watching that Robot Video I made a comparison to a Fleet of real life Kangaroo's I saw today doing their thing and thought of the comparison between "Silly Bot" and "Kangaroo", and I cannot help but think that the Roo Wins.

Check out the Kangaroo !

I never cease to amaze at these creature's, and when I look at bot's as shown in the video I see nothing but clumsy bits of material programed by twits.   ;D
