Obama to announce US marine base in Darwin

November 11, 2011

Quote
PRESIDENT Barack Obama is to announce that the US will begin rotating marines through an Australian base in Darwin in a permanent new military presence, intensifying the alliance in a sign of heightened concern about China.

He is scheduled to make the announcement with Prime Minister Julia Gillard when they visit Darwin together next Thursday during Mr Obama's first visit to Australia as President.

The 26-hour visit will mark the 60th anniversary of the ANZUS alliance.

Obama to announce more troops for Oz

Quote
US President Barack Obama will announce an accord for a new and permanent US military presence in Australia when he visits next week, a step aimed at countering China's influence and reasserting his nation's interest in the region, according to people familiar with his plans.

The agreement will lead to an increase in US naval operations off the coast of Australia and give American troops and ships "permanent and constant" access to Australian facilities, The Wall Street Journal quoted sources as saying.

Maybe Oz should just apply for statehood... and get more benefits :D

I thought China was Oz's biggest trading partner... wonder if this will effect that?  ???

Well this story is now progressing in the news here... especially for those that think or know that there's a lot more going on down-under than meets the eye in terms of US Mil Biz :D

Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd (who was ousted of the PM role BY his own party AFTER trying to impose a Mining Tax) Had this to say today.  Looks like he is playing the role so well again LOL

Rudd mum on US troop boost, takes aim at Greens

Quote
Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd has refused to give details of the extra military ties expected to be announced when US president Barack Obama visits Darwin next week.

Media reports suggest Mr Obama will announce the US will begin rotating Marines through a base in Darwin, with a new permanent presence on Australian soil.

Mr Rudd was asked today if he would confirm the report and he was very diplomatic in his response, but less so in comments directed at the Greens who have suggested any decision to boost US troop numbers should be put before Parliament.

US bases in Australia ruled out

Quote
"There are no United States bases in Australia and no proposal for such bases," Mr Smith said in a statement.

Australia is a crucial link in the Pentagon's so-called global force posture review, which Mr Smith said will lead to an expansion of joint training and exercises in Australia.

"Our starting point is that it would be an unambiguously good thing to extend such practical cooperation arrangements," Mr Smith said.

Mr Smith although you are lying, please go check Boeing's website and all the associated links to Australia being the ONLY other recognised place on this Planet which house's the research arm of said company.  In the meantime maybe chat to employees of the company and see what they have to say in regards to being born an Australian and what they know..which more to point gets down to WHAT THEY ARE NOT TOLD.

Its about as numbed nutted as believing the Indonesian's are invading next week....  ;D

EDIT to Add link..and good gracious me I feel like those Alex Jones parody videos thinking about the lies... ARRRGGHHH LMAO

This whole story which seems derived from the APEC meating is now just getting outright funny.  ;D

When I woke up today and checked the local news this was one of the main news items.  (these news items are all related)

Anti-nuclear Rudd urged US to keep arsenal for deterrence

Quote
KEVIN Rudd's public ambition as prime minister to help rid the world of nuclear weapons was secretly tempered by private messages urging the US to preserve a ''reliable'' and ''credible'' atomic arsenal, newly declassified documents reveal.

Mr Rudd made a campaign against nuclear weapons a hallmark of his foreign policy while in the top job, saying Australia had to reclaim credentials for the ''ultimate objective of a nuclear weapons-free world''.

Further on in the article we can read:

Quote
''Australia has an abiding interest in a safe, secure and reliable United States nuclear stockpile,'' Defence Department officials wrote in confidential 2009 submission to a US review of nuclear readiness. ''Australia would only expect the US to come to our aid in circumstances where we were under threat from a major power whose military capabilities were simply beyond our capacity to resist. But there remains one area of Australian security for which we remain entirely dependent on the US - that of extended nuclear deterrence.''

The submission is one of a bundle of secret defence documents obtained by the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons under freedom of information law.

Later on in the day, well morning for most in slumber land the same news agency announces that...

PM backs uranium for India

Quote
AUSTRALIA'S ban on uranium exports to India is set to be overturned, with Prime Minister Julia Gillard declaring the present policy outdated.

Ms Gillard will push for a change in party policy at next month's Labor national conference to lift the ban, bringing Australia into line with America's thinking.

In an article in today's Age, Ms Gillard declares it is ''time for Labor to modernise our platform and enable us to strengthen our connection with dynamic, democratic India''.

I'm all for the great american thinking of many good folk.   Like I mentioned elsewhere on another forum in regards to american folk sharing ideas etc.

On youtube for example,  it's mind blowing to me at times at how Americans are A culture to share and improve.

The idea these morons who over-run that great dream are not the American's I know.   :)

If there are no US bases in Oz why is there an Oz coalition wanting them removed?

Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt

Quote
Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt is located on the northwest coast of Australia, 6 kilometres (4 mi) north of the town of Exmouth, Western Australia. The town of Exmouth was built at the same time as the communications station to provide support to the base and to house dependent families of U.S. Navy personnel.

That might relate to that UFO meter on Alan Ferguson's webpage Spacemaverick, it may not too  ;D

I'm pretty sure, well 100% sure there is a UFO researcher here in Oz (who always gets a spin on those water cooler type brain numbing morning programs people watch before work) is working for the spooks.

When it comes to the subject of UFO's sightings they wheel  this guy out, who is an expert on UFO's so we are told.  He usually creates doubt, along with the host's.  He canned Alan in the usual manner of slight deviation, and the old trick of "You need a PHD to be credible" or Good pics taken by a PHD type person when Alan appeard on TV a couple of years stating how the Territory (NT) is Australia's hot spot...  :D

Surprise surprise... SO No US Base's ???  ;D
