Title: A Call To Arms...
Post by: The Seeker on January 27, 2017, 02:28:36 PM
A Call to Arms...

To All Pegasus members-Attention!

The keep is under siege and under duress; please devote your attention to the following announcement

Quote
Pegasus Research Consortium Fund Raiser

Pegasus, for the first time, really needs your help. Pegasus has been funded mostly out of my own pocket all these years with only the occasional ads and donations as compensation to help us along. We have never before asked anything from our followers and visitors. However, recently our server sold to a new owner and they have raised the rates to almost double and while we do have unlimited storage for the website itself (currently several thousand pages) and unlimited bandwidth, we can no longer store the massive amounts of large-sized files, videos and pictures on the server for free. The website was originally hosted on a dedicated server but we are now forced to use a shared server with the new owners.

My current financial situation has me retired at a fixed income and with the increased server costs along with the need to upgrade my work computer and internet service, it has become difficult to maintain the site without seeking some outside funding. While now being retired does afford me the time to put more effort into the website, forum and content, that time also needs to be spent keeping my bills paid.

Over the years we have grown to a site that is trusted and viewed by many... in fact we are averaging 35,000 unique monthly hits every month (A unique hit means 35,000 new, first-time viewers, not returning visits). If all our visitors would, just ONCE, send us the value of a cup of Starbucks coffee or even just a single dollar $1.00... That would have all our needs met in no time and would secure the website hosting for the long-term, upgrade computer hardware and software, and even hire some part time help to provide content and website management. Our administrators and moderators are currently all working on a purely volunteer basis... we would love to be able to help them out in return with a small paycheck but right now, we just don't have anywhere near the funding for that.

So if our site and what we do has any value to you at all, please consider sending us that one cup of coffee, or that single dollar. It's only a small amount but with the number of visitors we have it can quickly add up and make a huge difference.

There are also other ways you can support us besides outright donating...

1) We have an Amazon affiliate account. If you buy ANYTHING on Amazon simply using the link provided on our site, it costs you nothing but we get a small percentage from Amazon as a "finders fee" (We are looking at other affiliate programs out there).

2) Buy a Pegasus logo coffee mug or T-shirt (coming soon), a John Lear tinfoil hat or "My times with Bob Lazar" DVD (Available at our Ebay shop).

3) Just do some shopping at our Etsy and Ebay stores. We have lots of interesting items we find and list for sale. You might find something you like and those sales are my primary source of income these days.

4) Subscription. We are considering a subscription and currently working on a newsletter for this purpose (some of you may have already received a test letter). This will allow complete access to over 6,000 official documents, pdf files and videos for download. Since the new server won't allow us to keep them in the server directory, this will be a way to share the files and without an issue of robots creating DNS problems which has happened numerous times. We are looking at a $3.00 per month subscription rate (with a discount of $25.00 annually). More details will be available on the website.

As things are, I will not be able to keep the website running and I would hate to see it come down, but my personal bills must comes first. So again, if you truly value what Pegasus provides, please help us out with a one time donation of $5.00 and please share this fundraiser with you everyone you know.

Thank you,
Pegasus Research Consortium Manager,
Ron Schmidt

I shared on my FB and had someone mention that there is no link to Pegasus. They thought this may make newbies think it's a scam. Just FYI ??

Did you add one? sigh...That is the reason it is posted on the site itself, Smilingtree; some people would think it was a scam if the Pope offered to come to their town and hold communion...

I edited the OP so there is a link to the forum...sheesh

And quite the contrary, if you go to the gofundme page there is a link to the livingmoon and to Pegasus...

Wait a minute buddy ??.... Z posted on HIS FB page and I "shared" it. As did some one else from here 😉 before I did. And no, I did not add one bc I was living my life at the time so when I was notified, I simply turned around and notified "here". I just now sat back down to get online even though I did not log out earlier. I believed the person telling me. You say it was on there so I'm sorry I "bothered" you (sigh).

I guess I have one more thing to say.... I have been a member for some time now, although I only read and never post. So as someone that doesn't post, and isn't admin, I would have NEVER taken it upon myself to "add" anything to something I wasn't in charge of. And the fact that I feel you know all of this makes me thoroughly beleive you are an old, grouchy person like your avatar says. Well, you picked the wrong day to call me out. I don't appreciate it. BTW, I did contribute and answered your e-mail question so I do participate in the "party" I'm not just a lurker.

Are you familiar with "chinese whispers"?
Perhaps I am grouchy tonight; but a basic and primary premise of any research is to follow leads and verify them; as soon as you posted I immediately went to the site and verified it did have a working link; then added a secondary link to the OP in case anyone copied it to forward off site...
As to your facebook post, you are the only person that can edit and modify what you posted, so yes, i asked if you added a site link after you were informed of it; I do not participate on Facebook therefore I have forwarded your concerns to Zorgon...

Yes, I'm well aware of "Chinese whispers". And I thought, wrongly I'm assuming now, that you meant had I gone to the Gofund me page and adjusted that link. I had no idea you meant on my own shared post. Still not sure that's what you really meant.....
And I'm happy you took it to Zorgon. I know him. I feel confident he will laugh at my anger. And as for that, I have calmed down now and I'm sure you are not always grouchy. I know I'm sure not and this is the reason I DON'T post here.... I would rather not have to put up with crap like this. Anyway, for calling you that, I apologize. As for researching the lead, I met this person via Dr. Joe who is a dear friend of mine, and I assumed the person was here on Peggy so would know what they were talking about when they said the link wasn't posted. I have many FB friends that are members here.
Wow! Lol.... I really think this thread would have been my 3rd posting in IDK...2 years?? Well, hello everyone! I'm here and I follow but never post. I'm really super friendly and easy to get along with as long as you are friendly back.

The written word is an excellent tool but it can lead to mistaken assumptions

I will ask if there is a next time. I still feel as if the "sighs" and the "sheesh" were a little uncalled for, but I don't know you so maybe people just bug you in general. You have to admit you were upset that I had shared it in FB. And now I get that since you don't participate in that medium. All the same, to someone you've never spoken with, and was excited about sharing and asking for contributions, you were a little rough. That's ok, I took care of myself. But now I would like to move past it and maybe be kinder to each other in the future. Smile.... It's all good! And I sincerely hope you have a good evening.

You know that Zorgon (Ron) has always shown respect to all the posters and accepted all posts (No matter how far out they may have seemed) and this is a sign of RESPECT. So for this, he has been rewarded with a donation (Not too much, but not too little), toward advancing this site called Pegasus, and at least making his dreams come true. At last a site that will allow the average person to grasp the concepts of the unknown and to at least comprehend the incomprehensible! Hats off to Zorgon (Ron) and may he prosper.

Starwarp, something you must understand; Thor has lost his keep, as I did 2 years ago; Thor is still climbing trees and working at his age; he doesn't give up; I lost the use of my right arm last summer after a total shoulder separation; we don't give up or give in...

This is very disappointing, people; 495 members at Pegasus and upwards of 100 guests a day to the forum, and exactly 13 people have stepped forward to answer the call.  ::)

Seriously, people, there is such a tremendous volume of research data available only here, for free, for years; free of annoying and distracting click ads, no popup ads, and especially no restrictive or heavy handed moderation...

The content here is the painstaking result of decades of research and it represents a lifetime's commitment to finding the truth. Do people really see so little value in the hundreds of pages of information here that they can't cough up the price of a box of Girl Scout cookies? You know you'd buy the cookies out of sheer guilt and you get like three cookies for five bucks and they're the size of a quarter.

Come on. Cheapskates unite. Dig the change out of the cupholder in your car. Raid your children's piggybanks. Stop buying gourmet dog biscuits for one week. Donate that two bits interest you get on your checking account every month.

Make Pegasus Great Again!

That is a great donation :P

Content has as much value as greenbacks...

But do understand that the drive is to reach the 35,000 monthly viewers that are silent :D

I do have to figure out the best way to get that onto the website so its not intrusive :D

Wikipedia uses a pop up when they do their annual fund raiser  but I don't know how to do that yet and not have it come up on every page and be annoying

Very true they annoy me also; but I am fast believing that as long as access to the sites is free that the majority of the peeps are going to do nothing because they don't have to; at several places I have worked no one would contribute to the coffee kitty as long as I supplied the coffee and condiments; I locked everything up and put a coffee pot in my office  8) wasn't long until everyone that wanted a cup was dropping cash into the kitty jar...

I would be more than happy to make a donation or pay a subscription.  I would like to remain anonymous.  If Zorgon could put up a Post Office box to mail to, I would send a half-way disguised financial instrument and sign it with my user name.  Sending a address by email to registered members seems like a good thing to do, at least to me anyway.

So far I have only posted the Gofundme page on Facebook but both the forum and the website already have a donate button that is direct via paypal and is anonymous  However paypal has fees   and a $1.00 donation nets 65 cents for Pegasus and 35 cents for paypal due to their minimum transaction fee.

I am aware that many people do not use paypal but paypal now has the option to use any credit card without joining

I will make a front page announcement here on the home page today and see if i can set that up.

I also need a better 'hook' on the webpage

Also I am seeking out other affiliate programs many companies have them

rather than pay per click annoying ads affiluiates are real time hits  If a person uses the link and makes a purchase  rather than a few peenies for a click link, you get a percentage as 'advertizing fee' or 'finders fee'

AMAZON is a good one

We also have several AFFILIATE PROGRAMS
Shopping at your favorite Vendors simply using our link below helps us pay the bills and costs you nothing but we earn a small commission for sending you their way

AND  I just figured out how to insert those in the forum easily :D

We are working on the subscription

The issue with subscription is you need a newsletter at least once a week and make sure there is always new content and bonuses like access to files etc...

A post office box is a good idea  though my home address is pretty easy to find on Google these days :P  But then everyone knows my real name :D

I will check into a small PO box tomorrow  There is a small sub station just down the street from me and a UPS store that also has boxes. Would only need the smallest one

Thanks for the idea

Hey Z, as you might expect, for security reasons I do not do the Pay PAL and Go Fund Me things, nor do I provide any credit card information with most general sites who may not have the very top in security measures/protection of personal information. There is just too much stuff going on to take any chances - not that I have much money to loose anyway though!  :P

As I said once before, I will make a very concerted effort to use your link for when I want to use Amazon. Amazon is a very convenient stocking seller, and their "Prime" 2-day deliveries work well for me. So, if I can remember to use Pegasus Amazon link, I believe that maybe I can indirectly/directly help with the needed "contribution".

Just for reference, I did go back to see what I have been doing with Amazon - 2015 & 2016 - I placed a total of 62 orders, both single and multiple item orders, for a total value of $2,270.00.

I do hope I can help you in this way!!!  :)

Just a little info for those concerned about releasing credit and /or debit card info due to fraud, hacks, etc.:
you can now open a cash card account, functions as a debit card, and is not linked to any of your accounts; you put the amount of money you wish to be available on the card (Say $100) and if some scumwaffle gets your card number all they can get is whatever the balance on the card is, it can't be over-drawn, and since it isn't linked to any bank or financial account all your resources are protected.

Hey Z, as you might expect, for security reasons I do not do the Pay PAL

I have heard that from many people BUT just as an FYI

Paypal is now VERY secure because once you set up an account the ONLY one that has your bank info is Paypal... Any transaction after that is only via paypal internally and that bank or card info NEVER goes to anyone else

Even when Annonymous hacked paypal all that happened was it cause a shutdown (which only affected paypal0 and that in turn just meant that the little guy couldn'y use paypal for a few days (Nice going Anon  way to go attacking we the little guys  >:( )

I set up a bank account just for paypal and online use so nothing can touch my main account

So paypal is indeed a very safe and secure system for paying and buying as you do not need to use your card info once set up

They also give you a debit card to use your funds

AMAZON also has a similar system now called AMAZON PAY  If you trust Amazon for buying  you might trust them with that

Wow  that much huh?  You are an Amazon junkie :P  But yes  the affiliate program costs the user nothing  Amazon is just really nice in giving the link provider a small 'piece of the action'

I have found some credit card companies that do that as well It seems some legit card have really nice finders fees  It makes sence to do this because they pay nothing for advertizing unless there is a solid hit

I suspect it will be the way of the future

In Portugal anyone that has a debit card can go to an ATM machine and create a temporary card that works exactly like a normal credit card, with a limited amount of money associated to it. The card expires at the expiration date or when it has no more funds.

I have to create one of those to put some money in my Paypal account. :)

We aren't quite to that point over here yet,Armap; when I got hacked back in August my bank set up the cash card for me, and it is a permanent card just like a debit card, exp date and everything; right now the issue for me is having any money to put on the damn thing  :P

Would any donations be put towards a subscription if that is the direction we are heading?
Title: Re: A Call To Arms...
Post by: zorgon on January 31, 2017, 11:45:52 AM
The subscription idea would be voluntary to be sure

Seems only fair that any donation should count towards subscription

A subscription system is a good way to do it  I have checked around and that is the best way to avoid imperial entanglement with the government

Now I just need to figure out what to offer for subscription.   So that it makes it worthwhile  IE value for that buck

We have thousands of file and videos available but so far not many people have shown much interest in wanting to read or view them   A newsletter is needed of course so people get at least a weekly update  and whats new

Some places offer membership levels...  will have to study the best way to do it

I am almost finished all the repairs  (not the store yet)  so I can then focus on new content and being back here full time

So any suggestions on what people would like to see for that subscription now is the time to shout out  :D

And don't forget that MOST of the traffic we get is at the actual website, not the forum  If we had 30,000 plus people posting here daily it would be scary

That is one reason I originally set up the private areas  with the intent of having different access levels for subscribers  to stay away from the common noisy area

All suggestions appreciated at this point  Time to make a big effort to revive this

Well I don't mind helping out.

I don't visit many sites any more.  So much disinfo and bs out there, it is a total waste of my time.  Paid schills and arguing between members really disrupts the flow of important information.

Thanks to all involved for the work that has been put into this site and topics provided. Lets keep it going.

Just an FYI from someone who Doesn't have an account with Pay Pal or any other online BANK who are worried about either getting ripped off or having personal life invaded...

I purchase stuff online from all over this Blue Marble using a Debit Visa Card via Pay Pal or whatever the Merchant Require's and I have never to this day been ripped off.  I purchase on Amazon through my account, iherb ( who from the two time's I've used their service have been blown away by their shipping to OZ regarding speed) and people who sell product's who stop your butt from getting chaffed if you run a lot locally here in Melbourne where I live.  My point is that I use many Merchant's to serve my needs with one card when I cannot find that product locally or conveniently close to home or time wise.

I used to date a Lass who was studying for a Master's Degree in Accounting via Coursework back in the Early 2000's...The amount of cash many Bank's piled into making simple online transactions secure was insane... and that no doubt is a continual expense for them.

My overall message....

Don't worry about paying for something online.  I do agree that the banking system suck's and I don't like them as much as anyone else... but honestly most of you will go and pay for a coffee via Pay Pass in the next day or two.... It is What it is.. a convenient way to trade via our new world where we have only had the internet for a couple of decades.

Friends Fellows and Countrymen   lend me your ears...

Well no I don't really need your ears :P

I REALLY appreciate all the help from my good friends...  it really is helping a lot right now.

But I want to be clear that my target was to reach into the pockets of those silent viewers

Now here is the thing..

So far I have only posted the Gofundme page on Facebook and here in the forum  FB I have maybe 600 people on the friend list and only a few of those are people familiar with Pegasus

Same on the forum  While we do get a lot of guest views, there are only a few hundred members at this time

Since I cannot access the BLOCKS until we update  I cannot post a message on the front door right now and I have not yet figured out the best way to write it up for the website where the main traffic is

HOWEVER

When I wrote up the campaign  I used the stats from last year showing an average of 35,ooo unique viewers.

Well I just got the stats for january yesterday... we had 86,000 unique visitors and over 4 MILLION hits in just the first month

Also shows the traffic for Feb 01  a single day

So we are definitely getting seen :D  I need to hurry and fix that front page donat "hook"  With that many people surely we can wake up the masses :D

Also almost done the main Pegasus menu  Another day or two should do it

Having a server is easy, I have one at home, the hard part is having a connection that can handle all the requests.

As Seeker pointed out, the amount of bandwidth used goes beyond what most home connections can handle, as we are talking about client downloads that correspond to server uploads, and most home connections use asymmetric data transfer rates like 100 MB/s downloads but only 30 MB/s uploads.

Ya that is the sort of person we need to help with the Youtube Channel...

A Pegasus Youtube Channel with Lunar Anomalies would Generate SO many hit's.  I say with utmost sincerity to our member's who may not see them too as I respect their point of view.  But a lot of people do think when they see a good anomaly a short spell.  Love it or hate it but social media for now is the platform to grow revenue... and in the case of Pegasus it's quite dignified to do so as this not a get rich quick scheme... It's something people have put their whole belief into ;)

Having a server is easy, I have one at home, the hard part is having a connection that can handle all the requests.

yes exactly... Back in the days before the Web we had what they called a BBS Bulletin Board Service... You set it up at home and the access was limited to how many hard phone lines you had into your house.  So if you ran in 10 lines, only 10 people could access you at any one time. I still have Wildcat BBS installed When we first started using that my computer was a Commodore 64  :o  yet because all the access was LOCAL people we manages to create the Medieval group using the BBS as a 'home base'  The first online game was LORD (legend of the Red Dragon) a text based simple game that led to the Guild history  Bandwidth? LOL it was a dial up modem slow as molasses in January

(http://www.santronics.com/images/wildcateyes.jpg) (http://www.santronics.com/index.php)

As Seeker pointed out, the amount of bandwidth used goes beyond what most home connections can handle, as we are talking about client downloads that correspond to server uploads, and most home connections use asymmetric data transfer rates like 100 MB/s downloads but only 30 MB/s uploads.
[/quote]

While we DO have 'unlimited bandwidth for TRAFFIC at the Globat server (good thing or I could never afford this 22 gigs a day trafic rate) we do not have that for file transfer

When I first started posting the PDF files and Videos we have saves (many no longer on Youtube) I origiannlt paid 180.00 one time to add 6 terabytes storage for files on the server. Today storage space FOR WEBPAGES and images is unlimited BUT not for files

Back then before Globat sold we were on a DEDICATED server. That means we were the only ones using that server...  Now we have been moved to a SHARED server...

What that means is that when people download files music and videos, it effects the speeds of all others on that shared server...

Now say I have a huge video or other file... and some asswipe hacker set a robot program to repeatedly download that same file...  it gives everyone sharing that server a DNS error because the robot is tyimng up all the bandwidth..

So end result  I had to remove ALL the download files from the server and will need to find a new place to store them where we can access them for free... Most services only give you a few gigabytes free  I have 4 terabytes of file and videos right now

Here is the partial list of available PDFs that have been processed so far  I have links to original sources where I know they are stable  The rest are off line so I took the password protection off the file so you can view it

This is only a SMALL portion of the files we have  It does not include the patents and the videos  and abnother 6000 plus files not processed yet

http://www.thelivingmoon.com/91_PDF_Database/Pegasus_PDF_Database.html

 ::)

And one thing Robo is not factoring in is my TIME to maintain this  I have to pay my bills. If I am spending 24/7 on the website with no recompensation for that time, I have to step away to find other ways to keep the light on :P

Advertizing is the best way to go... but I refuse to plaster the sites with annoyimng popups and other obtrusive ads  So I and others are working on a solution

A good freelance ad agent can make good money finding ads  I know a few that are making good money and I don't question how much their share is :P

I am considering a book... My daighter said she can ghost write it...  That might be intersting project  I think I will focus on the Stargates  that area I have the most material on

I was thinking about that, but the problem is that we need someone to make the videos.

Although videos are easy to make today, someone that knows what to do and how to do it makes a much better job (and quicker) than someone that has only a slight idea of how to do it, and I think Pegasus could gain a lot by having good videos but could also lose a lot with bad videos, as it's easy to lose credibility with bad looking (or sounding) media.

True that  Anyone can make a video  like this one my daughter made of a Rapier fight  just simply recorded on her cell phone

But to find the balance between just a flick compared to a good productionis not so simple...

Yes, that's the biggest problem. For example, most UFO channels have some kind of intro to all their videos that, sometimes, takes longer than the video they are presenting. Although some of those intros are good and have a professional look some are just silly.

Quote
But what 'sells'?  It seems fake UFO videos do :P  and stupid stuff gets millions of hit...
In the case of YouTube people don't need to watch the whole video for the ads to do their job, specially if the videos have the embedding disabled and can only be watched on YouTube.

So, to me, a confessed non-fan of videos, this is how it works:
1 - A catchy title: I have one YouTube video that I posted many years ago that is just a copy of the original that was on some site. It was not possible to embed the original video, so I downloaded it, converted it and uploaded it to YouTube, pointing to the original source. That video was watched 249 times in the last 30 days, much more than all my other videos together. I think the higher popularity of the video is mostly connected to its title, "Humanoid?";
2 - Start with the most important part, so people watch at least the beginning. Most UFO videos (fake or not) have two or three repetitions at different frame rates, and many have some filters applied, supposedly to make it easier to see something;
3 - Give people what they want. People want to watch videos of amazing things, regardless of being real or not? Give them amazing things.
4 - Know your audience. Knowing who your target audience is helps. Is you target audience mostly young people that like short sequences with rapid changes of scene, like in video clips? Or is your target audience mostly older people, already with a steady life, that would have liked to have a different, more adventurous life? Or science people, both mainstream and alternative?

Having said all the above, I don't really know what to do to make a good video, I can only see what I think of something someone else made. :)

The original fundraiser goal was 5 grand; so far, a little over 10% has been raised as of yesterday; it just chaps my butt that there are at least 100+ unique guests a day visiting the forum, reading and printing threads; and officially 502 registered members that are setting a shining example with their encouraging support and contributions of how to be a complete failure...

Mustn't forget that until we can access the front page here again we haven't posted a notice on the front door

I also need to put a 'hook' on the front page of livingmoon

There is no way to tell if people are seeing the request yet  the 10% is from the regular friends and a few from facebook...

The intention was NOT to have those friends chip in though it is GREATLY appreciated at this time....

The target was the real people that visit the website (not the forum per say) daily.  But do they log in to the front page? or to a sub menu?

When I log in here I go direct to the forum menu skipping the front page

Advertizing says that for people to register something they need to see it multiple times before it sticks  :P

Robots? yes there are those  and they are useful, but it is easy enough to look at the stats page and see the IPs

I have a week left before War and am sorting and cleaning up EVERYTHING  so when i come back I will have a clean slat to focus on Pegasus...

The affiliate solution, I have talked to several people, is a good one if you have legit agents and Rakuten is one of the biggest and best

But yeah I hear you... you would think asking for a $1.00 tip would be nothing...  Maybe we need to set up some chairs on a mountain top out here and sell tickets for a ride in an invisible ethereal spaceship :P Greer does it  $10,000 a seat :P

Understood; That is one reason I post in this thread every day, to keep it on the recent post list; then check who's online and usually there will be 5+ guests reading the thread...

8) I would rather charge them $100 a seat for a ride on Pegasus One when we get it operational( once we get clearance and can keep NORAD and Space Command from shooting our perambulator off)

$100 a seat is actually pretty affordable.  Just tell NORAD  that it's affiliated with Santa Claus and everything should be fine.  They track his his sleigh every year.  Maybe Pegasus One can be identified as his auxiliary sleigh.

How much, a ball park figure would the forum need to keep open on a yearly basis.

Currently the server is charging $334.80 annually for the main living moon account. It is set to auto deduct on Jan 1st  Then there are the Domain name registrations(we have 5 currently and Seeker will be adding 2), site lock security(stops hackers and mal ware from being added to the webpages)

01/03/17   RECURRING PAYMENT AUTHORIZED ON 01/01 EIG*Globat 866-5392854 MA xxxxxxxxx CARD xxxx       $334.80

Currently we have had to remove all the PDZF files and the Video collection because now that we are on a shared server, when someone sets a ROBOT to repeatedlt download a huge file, it ties up that server for everyone on it...  so we no longer have file sharing

Since few people really ever bother to LOOK at those files and videos  it isn't a big deal but before we had unlimited file sharing on a dedicated server (only us on that server)

I think the problem with reaching out to the 80,000 is probably mostly a matter of THEY DON'T SEE the request

IF someone enters the site from the front page at Livingmoon they will see the TIP blurb and the direct link to the gofundme site

However if they are visiting the site via google search they bypass that front page

So I need to learn how to have that visible on all pages without annoying people

Wikipedia has a popup that comes up on each page for a few seconds then fades away... THAT would be nice and can be used for other announcements as well

Also the FORUM is sorely in need of an update  As of now we cannot access the front page to change the message

I will do a full back up today and we can try the upgrade tonight and hopefully fix that. The other option is start a NEW clean copy of the forum, reset all the bells and whistles then attempt to import this database

That would also give us the black background option back

I will be away for a week end of Feb... but when I return Seeker Thor and myself will be full focus on changes.  I am almost finished repairing all the menues  Only John lear's and the Main pegasus menus need fixing. The matreial is still there the but needs organization

All right people; this thread has been lying dormant now since the middle of February  8) unfortunately, so has the GoFundme campaign associated with it...

I am putting this out there for member discussion and will post an email address so guests can have a say also: I just want everyone's reaction to going to the forum one day and discovering that it is locked down tight, requiring a login to access anything, a login that you have to pay for;

or have a popup ad appear every time you click a link for a page; so you tell me  8)

There is an affiliate link for Amazon and for Walmart.com on the forum; for those of you that do shop online at either, by clicking the link on the site, Pegasus receives a token percentage from your purchases; and no, it does not add to your purchase price, it comes out of the seller's take...

contact email for non-members is theseeker@thelivingmoon.com (http://theseeker@thelivingmoon.com) answers to questions will be posted in this thread along with the questions

so which would you rather do: donate the cost of a good cup of coffee every now and then, or pay a monthly/yearly subscription fee? Or put up with those annoying ads...

I would be willing to pay a subscription fee. The GoFundMe links usually don't work for me.  Sometimes the site won't load for me.  I blame that on the phone that needs replacement.  I stay away from sites that have constant ads.  I do use the Amazon link here, and I probably spend too much money on Amazon.

I don't mind, either a Go Fund me, or direct donation -

I was wondering though, why don't John L and his very close friends write either a factional novel, or a fact based book about the moon and its anomalies ?..  or the Area 51 and other unacknowledged AOA sites ?

I am sure that there must be enough stories to fill one or two volumes?, and I suspect that they would get gobbled up in no time - Doesn't Rich Dolan have a publishing company ?

cheers! Fans' :D 8)

Working on that... as soon as I figure out how to provide regular content for subscribers :D  I had once thought access to documents would be a feature but no one reads them :P

That is a very good point  I have issues with people buying from Ebay via phones. Seems the phone apps are not good enough to use all the features like combined shipping  and over 50% of ebay sales are phone

This is also why Windows 10 made the new crappy basic white with black text  and dropped all the years of work on making pretty windows... The phones can't handle it :P

Quote
I stay away from sites that have constant ads.

So do I I get many offers for ads but I won't post those annoy ones that pop up and scream at you :P The bottom link banner on the menu pages is not that obtrusive  but don't yet know if it works

Direct banner links like Kim Greenhouse are passive and paid for for a period of time. If they pan out they get renewed. Same with text link ads. The ones we have most people don't even know are there as they are cleverly hidden and in context  Those pay really well and run a year. If I could find an agent to get those that would be great :D

Quote
I do use the Amazon link here, and I probably spend too much money on Amazon.

That is much appreciated and it does work. Costs you nothing but we get a small commission  It is really great that Amazon allows this because unlike other ads that rely on new accounts, Amazon pays forever as long as they use the Pegasus door.  And the affiliate links are static  so not annoying

Don't know how Walmart pans out yet... but they allow me to use my own link, which Amazon doesn't

I don't mind, either a Go Fund me, or direct donation -

Just a note: Gofundme charges 5% (not bad) and Paypal 3% and a 30 cent one time fee  So a $1.00 donation nets us .65 cents :P

The original intent of the fundraiser was to wake up the SILENT MAJORITY  the millions of monthly hits that view fir free. They must like what they see as they keep coming back  :P

Perhaps a funding drive like PBS does with pledges   and you get a cup or T-shirt for certain level. Maybe even a garage sale on line for certain items say like a Lunar orbiter photo book from the 70's  :D

One thing that happened when I got John to put in his request for help was that all the attention switched from Pegasus to him :P  because people know he is associated with us and many thing Pegasus is his website :P

Well he reached his goal YAY!! and he did need it for more serious immediate needs :D

On that note:
John has attempted to start a book several times  Years ago back at ATS Beth (Undo) and I started on laying out the format for the first book  In fact this image on the front of Livingmoon is the original cover design

But it never got going because John said he didn't want to go to book as he clanged his mind to often  And on a forum you can correct yourself but not in print.

Then recently his daughter Zoe was starting on a book but I have not heard if that has gone anywhere... That was before Four Names got into the mix

As for ME  I am working on a concept for a book It will be my gate and portal theory and how it all ties together. But I need an assistant  or Ghost Writer... heck I will even take a co author as long as my idea is kept intact...

I have been years gathering the bits   Time to start laying out the paragraphs.  While I write thousands of posta and webpages monthly, I have never tried a full out book  LD

Quote

I did not know that I will check  I just heard Dolan attack the MUFON Secret space program idgit :D  warning people to not get caught up in that  Interesting   I will look into him re books

well Z i think i've tossed a few ideas at ya in the past..

maybe go with talk is cheap and the forum 'talk' is free but any of the  info otherwise is considered worth buying a ticket for..
you can buy a ticket for  a month or year or whatever time you  decide
and that gets you into the more private areas..which you can list so folks would know what is there
also  perhaps a membership thing with a nice special color for the names and avatars for time spend contributing

also have the donations thing open and
maybe an exchange room for members to exchange 'stuff' or barter stuff or perhaps even purchase stuff...

then every so often a preview hour or so to see one of the 'rooms' with info as a taste test

the stuff you have at the living moon is a library that should only be accessible to those with a library card.. (fee involved)

me personally  i don't do paypal or such or buy on line and when i donate i like to do cash and be anonymous  or just one on one

with getting older there are a lot of things i don't need anymore and in very good condition so i do take a lot of stuff to the salvation army or donate to the vets.....i would have no trouble handing it over to folks   here..but not sure how to do that right now

and i know  of a few folks who are writing books so a book place would be really good
and yeah i also know you need an assistance to do a bunch of this
and sorry that my computer skills are so limited

anyway tossing in my thoughts and sending really really good vibes for  this

hugs
D

ps  oh yeah looking at what folks  are reading might give you a good handle on what to make 'payable'
 ;D

I always have trouble trying to access all the files, the comprehensive menu page, and the PDFs. We could use these links front and center, so they're easier to access.

For some reason, even after looking around, I haven't been able to get there. I was originally trying to access the McMoon pages and never got there.
