And, it looks like NASA used Larry, Curly, and Mo to  "make this official statement"!  ;D

Hello hobbit! For me, after looking at you pic, I think that is a good question! Well, that is, unless shadows on the moon don't have to go in the same directions, because of lower gravity, or as "no gravity", as you might say. ;)

To my view, there are three significant shadows near the camera, and they all are going in different angles. That would be the shadow of the photographer, the shadow of the vertical equipment piece of some sort, and the shadow of a rock, just to the right of the equipment piece.

While being no "shadow expert", the angle of any shadow will be directly relative to the light making the shadow. It is my opinion, that this photo possibly depicts proof that there likely are multiple light sources there forming the shadows.

And besides that, in my opinion, the shadow to the far right, which is shown on the far side of the "crater", has some appearance of having been applied. To me, it doesn't look natural, it seems to come too far out at the end of it, and one can see some below the crater edge behind it on the left end. With all of this "light". there probably should not be much shadow there anyway.

JMHO!

Yeah.  Those shadows are ALL wrong if the SUN was the source!  (Well, one could be correct but the rest...)   That crater look as if the sun is just off camera to the right, and the shadow of the man looks like it is nearly behind Him, and the equipment shadow looks like it's somewhere in between...

Ok, I also have an opinion on this one:  If you take a pencil, stand it up straight in the ground and then place another one right next to it on an angle you will get one straight shadow and one angled shadow even from 1 light. If you place them parallel next to each other you get parallel shadows. You can do this test at home with 2 pencils.

I have been looking at shadows for years now and I still cant prove a second light source from them, just different angles from the object that cast the shadows. A shadow is a projection from the angle and height, not just the height.

If we had 2 lights we should get 4 shadows from the 2 pencils or hobbits astronaut and equipment. If the light is strong enough to make 1 shadow it should be strong enough to make 2. 4 total.

Saying all that, If you have been following my Deuem program, you might see how it follows light and is very good with sun or flash light. I have done many moon photos and have found 1 source or up to 3 sources. But still the shadows were OK. Meaning it looks like reflective light and not an intense source.  If anyone wants to try, drop a photo in my thread or here and I will run it. I don't want to derail the thought of this thread.
