Well, theres usually "some" truth to legend. I guess you just have to sift through it all to find it...

Indeed, Dave there is! And the sifting iis done with a giant mesh, as the number of theories of Atlantis are many.

A personal note on Atlantis:
While corresponding with a writer/metaphysicist friend of mine over tea one day, we discussed the earth's fault lines as a map for the existence of Atlantis, and how it was most likely swallowed by a tectonic event like no other, which in addition to causing earthquakes and tsunami world wide, could have been construed as a "flood myth" or a sign from god.
To watch a giant island full of brilliant advanced people gets slid into the sea underneath another plate would be a sight to see.
This is the only way an entire land of people could be wiped clean without a trace, and the main crux of my Past Civilization studies.

I have speculated for years, that the lost civilizations are just that, lost, underneath the tectonic plates of their own planet. Shoved beneath the layers of earth's crust, to never be seen again.

Archaeologists wonder, if there were past civilizations, where is the evidence? Well to understand why we dont have that evidence is to understand how plate tectonics, and earth vibrations take place. If there was ever a  10.0 earthquake on earth, the loss of Atlantis is a perfect example of one.

We have been much more advanced, and much more civilized than today many times before, and if it werent for megaliths, and ooparts, we wouldnt have a clue as to what is deposited in the strata miles below our feet.

Another theory I had about Atlantis was the concentric rings, forming a giant battery from the city itself, creating free energy for it's inhabitants. Plato's description shows a definite tendency towards an explanation of how Atlantis was self contained due to this energy source, and other societies around the globe at that time wanted it badly, but werent ready for it yet.

I picture Vishnu and his Vimana, Quetzlcoatl and his rocketship, and the Zunni sky gods with their headdresses, and think, WOW, we have been way more advanced before, and much more in touch with the reality of nature and the universe.

Those "tales" of ancient sky gods were true, and a lot of them were from Atlantis.

Also, Yonaguni in the Paciic ocean is a good start to hunt for Mu or the Pacific Atlantis, and if these structures are any indicator of the technology exisitng in prehistoric times, we definitely are primitive in contrast. Sitting on the egde of the japanese plate, it shows a unique method of construction, not found anywhere today, and closely similar to a stepped pyramid like Cuiculco, or a Ziggurat.
Yonaguni definitely wasnt made by mermaids, and when it was above water, it, too, was another candidate for our Atlantis, as is the deep find near Cuba, and the Bimini Road in the Bahamas.

Plato had a vision, and he wrote it down in his old world way, so we will never understand the full impact of the story, as most of it is written like a fictitious novel, vaguely describing what he saw in a primitive way.

Cheers!

I believe Atlantis probably existed but I tend to get a bit squirmish when I read titles such as "The True History Of...". In truth, so little is known of Atlantis and to state anything else is somewhat disingenuous. Unfortunately Atlantis is another one of those 'enigmas' that has been hijacked by magical thinkers selling books, crystals and meditation music.

Ancient Civilisations are interesting enough on their own without adding all the sequins, rhinestones and razzmatazz (IMHO). This is a generalised statement and in no way refers to the above 'documentary' as I have not seen it, however the title alone does not leave me optimistic.

IRM  ;)

Well put, IRM, as the places we do have proof of are fun enough without putting fancy names or finery about their perimeter, like so many sequins!:)
Water is my favorite place where you can just stand and absorb, no frills necessary, and if Atlantis existed, it probably was a lot like a watery city, a mystery altogether, until found that is.
I think a lot of time has been spent on the esoteric value of myths like Atlantis, and not a lot of real scientific exploration, aside from the Yonaguni project.
We need better undersea tech and instead of spending so much time on space, maybe we should invest a bit more in the final frontier, water.

This thread and the flood thread may have the same roots?
Was Atlantis pushed downwards or pulled downwards?

What is PRESSURE?

From the writings of TT Brown, "At some time between 70,000 and 200,000 years ago, a worldwide change occurred which created or recreated light gravitational isotopes. This could have been a sudden increase in the intensity of cosmic radiation or it could have been a close approach or contact with a comet.

The result nevertheless was a rapid and effective increase in the content of light gravitational isotopes in certain susceptible materials. This increase presumably was limited to certain clays and rocks. The resulting loss of weight caused tectonic forces and started mountain building processes.

The continent of Atlantis may have risen from the ocean during this period. During the height of this gravitational revolution, many materials were phenomenally light and could be transported with ease. Certain substances may have had negative gravitational mass and escaped from the earth. Structures to fly in the air may have been constructed from common materials by beneficiating from entrapping or loading materials.

Men turned with ease toward the quarrying of huge masses of stone simply because they were able to lift and move them. It is my hypothesis that the largest stones cold be carried by a relatively few men. They literally floated through the air, like huge logs floating on water. Their inertial mass, however, must have been enormous. When motionless they must have required great force to start them moving and, when in motion, they must have required equally great effort to stop them!

Page 11

This period of "lightness" must have lasted many centuries, because during that time a flourishing, highly developed human society evolved.

Decay of the light gravitational isotopes began when the factor causing their synthesis ceased to be operative. This decay, similar to radioactive decay, was very rapid at the start, diminishing in rate as the centuries passed.

It is presumed that unless synthesis is now operating or has been more or less regularly operating during the intervening time, decay of this original effect is still proceeding. The result then would be a continuing increase in the weight of these rocks.

During the first few centuries of weight "increase", great tectonic forces similar but opposite to those which originally created "Atlantis", now served to destroy it. Great loading due to the increase in weight of these specific rocks, together with isostatic flow, would have caused the sinking of the mythical continent.

Page 12

In brief, therefore, the disappearance of Atlantis may be related to and concurrent with the termination of quarrying operations of the huge stones. The same increase of weight, caused by the decay of light isotopes, caused by the decay of light isotopes, is the reason, so it seems.

As the weight of the monoliths, such as the Easter Island images, increased, their supporting foundations gave way and caused them to fall. Most of these images have fallen backward.

It is proposed that samples of these monoliths (and others) be accurately weighed each year for several years, to determine if weight is still increasing. If so, and if rate has been undisturbed, curve may be extrapolated to indicate approximate date of vertical weightlessness (See above curve).

Typical half-life curve --- similar to decay of radioactive materials."

One of the most believable explanations for the Megaliths, as well, eh?
And cymbals crash! Atlantis sinks!

Thank you for posting that Littleenki. It was nice to see Dads words.

I know there will be many geologists out there who will scoff at his theory and call it impossible.... as they did also with the developments that he considered unimportant.... displaying situations that actually broke with the understood laws of physics at the time.

Beneficiation and what might have happened to Atlantis was one of Dads closest held beliefs but he did not allow himself to get drawn into intellectual food fights over it... He knew that the time was not right for that kind of understanding.... so he turned to the " little" concepts" ....

One of them some of you might already have in your home. It was called the Ionic Breeze by Sharper Image and licensed to them by a man by the name of Jim Lee.

Dad considered that a " throw away" product. He couldn't have been less interested in it...... YET.... in the early summer of 1967 a working model of that principle was placed in front of Dr. Edward Teller for his appraisal and what was his reaction?  " I don't know how it works".

Now stop for a moment then folks and realize where we have finally gotten in the past 45 years. A simple little device has been presented to a top of the heap physicist at the time ( called the " Father of the Hydrogen Bomb) and he didn't understand at all the principle that made this thing work...

And in forty five years later many of you have one operating in your home.... and many STILL don't have the foggiest notion of how the thing works or what its potential is for other situations.

The demise of Atlantis seems a fanciful story to some but I believe that  it is not.... the stories passed down through the ages have a distinct purpose.  It has been put out there as  a red flag so that we will notice it and come back to investigate.

How many times do we have to investigate. Until we understand.

We might have to simply keep coming back because how in the world would be be able to understand a concept as grand as World wide Beneficiation ...when we can't even grasp a simple air mover?

Linda
