This time we set the wayback machine to 1964 - to the beginning of arena rock tours in America.

It's The Beatles live in one of the few stadiums they could actually hear themselves in, and they took full advantage with a vengeance and a stellar performance.

The crowd reaction is priceless  8)

Pink Floyd has officially broken up

Long-time Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour stated in a recent interview with Classic Rock Magazine that Pink Floyd is “done.”

I’ve had 48 years in Pink Floyd – quite a few of those years at the beginning, with Roger [Waters]. And those years in what is now considered to be our heyday were 95% musically fulfilling and joyous and full of fun and laughter. I certainly don’t want to let the other 5% colour my view of what was a long and fantastic time together. But it has run its course, we are done – and it would be fakery to go back and do it again.

Obviously I accept there are people who want to go and see and hear this legend that was Pink Floyd, but I’m afraid that’s not my responsibility. To me, it’s just two words that tie together the work that four people did together. It’s just a pop group. I don’t need it. I don’t need to go there.

While this is theoretically sad news, Pink Floyd hasn’t really existed since about 1982 or so when they kicked Richard Wright out of the band. Roger Waters left in 1985, and Wright eventually returned, but it’s not like anything close to approximating an original lineup has been using the name Pink Floyd since that time (save for the Live 8 reunion pictured above where I swear Waters is giving the peace sign and not doing the bunny ears thing to Gilmour). When Wright died in 2008, most people looked at that as the end of Pink Floyd anyway.

It’s also weird that Gilmour says “To me, it’s just two words that tie together the work that four people did together,” considering this completely leaves founding member Syd Barrett out of the equation. Not cool, David. Not cool.

Anyway, Pink Floyd hasn’t been a thing for about 30 years now, but it’s nice that with two founding members dead and only one founding member still technically in the group (Nick Mason), they finally decided to go ahead and retire the name.

In other news, Guns N’ Roses is still technically a band that exists.

Legendary rock band Pink Floyd has decided to officially break up, according to David Gilmour. Even though he and Nick Mason briefly reunited Pink Floyd for the band’s first release in 20 years, The Endless River, the band has decided to break up, Gilmour told Classic Rock Magazine, citing that since most of the founding Pink Floyd members were dead, it’s time to move on to different projects.

According to Business Insider,Gilmour told the magazine that “I’ve had 48 years in Pink Floyd – quite a few of those years at the beginning, with Roger [Waters]. And those years in what is now considered to be our heyday were 95% musically fulfilling and joyous and full of fun and laughter.”

David continued, explaining that with Rick Wright gone, he feels Pink Floyd should break up. “I certainly don’t want to let the other 5% colour my view of what was a long and fantastic time together. But [Pink Floyd] has run its course, we are done – and it would be fakery to go back and do it again.”

To the Pink Floyd fans who are disappointed by the news, David apologizes, but believes it’s time for Pink Floyd to break up, reports Consequence of Sound. “Obviously I accept there are people who want to go and see and hear this legend that was Pink Floyd, but I’m afraid that’s not my responsibility. To me, it’s just two words that tie together the work that four people did together. It’s just a pop group. I don’t need it. I don’t need to go there.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, two original members of Pink Floyd are dead, Syd Barrett, who died in 2006, and Rick Wright, in 2008, and there’s only one founding member that’s still in the band, Nick Mason. With a 20-year gap between albums, 1994’s The Division Bell and 2014’s The Endless River, fans realized it was only a matter of time before the band decided to officially break up anyway.

Pink Floyd was formed in 1965 by Syd Barrett and Roger Waters. For 30 years, the members of Pink Floyd worked and toured together until 1994. Between 1994 and 2014, fans thought the band decided to break up, but in 2005, Pink Floyd reunited for the Live 8 global awareness event. At that event, Pink Floyd did not have plans to reunite, but in 2012, Gilmour and Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason reunited to complete The Endless River, a compilation of music written before Pink Floyd member Roger Waters died. That album was released in 2014.

According to Business Insider, “Pink Floyd hasn’t really existed since about 1982 or so when they kicked Richard Wright out of the band. Roger Waters left in 1985,” and Pink Floyd wasn’t the same. After Rick died in 2008, most fans figured Pink Floyd would break up. In the interview, David confessed that reuniting without Richard Wright would be “wrong.”

David Gilmour points out that Pink Floyd fans can look forward to the release of his new solo album, Rattle That Lock, and North American tour next year after the break up. Pink Floyd bandmate Roger Waters is also working on a new album and tour.

And there are older bands, like the Rolling Stones or the Beach Boys, still active, although some more active than others. :)

Lee Marvin – Wand'rin' Star Lyrics

I was born under a wandrin' star,
I was born under a wandrin' star.
Wheels are made for rollin'
Mules are made to pack.

I've never seen a sight that didn't look better looking back.
I was born under a wandrin' star.
Mud can make you prisoner, and the plains can bake you dry.
Snow can burn your eyes, but only people make you cry.

Home is made for comin' from, for dreams of goin' to,
Which with any luck will never come true.
I was born under a wandrin' star,
I was born under a wandrin' star.

Do I know where hell is? Hell is in hello.
Heaven is in goodbye for ever, it's time for me to go.
I was born under a wandrin' star, a wandrin' wandrin' star.

When I get to heaven tie me to a tree,
Or I'll begin to roam, and soon you know where I will be.
I was born under a wandrin' star, a wandrin' wandrin' star.

Songwriters: LERNER, ALAN JAY/LOEWE, FREDERICK

A couple of incredible songs from Pink Floyd not so well known unless you admire David Gilmour as much as I do.

These are from "The Division Bell" no singing its all instrumental. The videos incredible as well enjoy everyone...
