Very true, the world is a confusing place. Just when you begin to believe or disbelieve something along comes more information and blows it all away.

All we can do really is wait, watch and listen and follow our own instincts until proven right or wrong. It is a shame many are so hostile and derogatory as each of us explores the issues and hopes to find answers.

There's a reason people go with their gut feeling.  Many times we're picking up on subliminal clues.

The Bible gave me two clues, which I've always been able to use fairly consistently, as a means of evaluating anything.

a}  The truth will set you free.

I've interpreted this to mean that there is a causal relationship between that which is true, and that which is liberating and empowering.  This in turn means that because anything which is conducive to negative emotions (fear, anger etc) tends to also lead to bondage, material which produces those emotions can usually be safely dismissed as misleading, or at least highly distorted.  As a general rule of thumb, anything which induces fear should first be psychologically integrated to the point where fear no longer results from perceiving that thing, and then discarded.

This is also why I don't view the dispensation of doom porn as a justifiable activity.  "Awareness raising," is really only the raising of fear and other negative emotions.  We need to focus on keeping ourselves calm, not in a condition of panic.  People might cynically reply to me that ignoring something doesn't make it go away; but sorry, yes, it actually does.  I know that because I'm living it.

b}  A good tree only produces good fruit, and vice versa.

What this means is that the moral nature of a given effect, is directly related to the effect's cause.  While in some cases it is still possible to obtain positive coincidental effects from a malevolently intended cause, in reality, the ends never justify the means.  Bashar and others have said that one positive outcome of World War 2 was some people realising that they never wanted to go through that experience again, which was fine; but we'd ultimately still be better off if WW2 had not happened, and if the motivations behind it had not existed.  WW2 is still being used today as the main rationale for trying to claim that defensive warfare is sometimes justifiable; when in reality, the psychopaths who make said arguments don't really want defensive war; they just want war, full stop.

There was a definite context to the statement
Quote
Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6). Knowing the Truth will set one at liberty—free from sin, free from condemnation, and free from death (Romans 6:22; 8:1–2).

I wonder how you might have received Jesus words of doom and gloom, such as saying the temple would be thrown down. Jesus did not come to make people happy he had a lot of negative stuff to tell us.
