Fans,
I don't recall the U.S. getting back to back major storms like this year.  I remember hearing about plenty of hurricanes, but not like now.  The Denver Post ran an article on it in this morning's paper.  I'm still very glad, right now, that I live in a landlocked state.

It seems from the map Thor that you may have to Tuesday I think if Irma follows the path in the speed and direction as suggested..

I assume maybe that it will have lost some of its power by then...so maybe you will stay in place.. like Spacemav, and Sgt..but some like Hoss maybe better to leave the area if possible.

I dont know if I have seen a Hurricane suggested to take such a path right all along the Florida coast the way the map indicates before in past ones..Im sure members in the area will be well aware !  its surprising how many are in that area.

Otherwise Your Mothership may have to take a flight or end up having to take off via Irmas power !....

I hope it does not end up being the latter !

and that you do not have to await to Monday // tuesday to decide what to do if you have a plan B ... that may require to leave the area..which may then be not possible..

Thorfourwimds is nestled in the mountains in the upper eastern corner of Georgia; Little Enki is in Key Largo, Florida; Hoss58 is in southwest Florida; spacemaverick is in Melbourne, Florida; I am in northwest Georgia 1/4 mile from I-20, 19 miles from Alabama

it is going to be getting very interesting for all of us over the next 48 hours; key west and key largo are getting sustained winds of 36 mph and gusts at 67 mph right now as Irma is beginning its turn north...

Blank space unless you experienced it. It wasn't fun, believe me.

Thanks for the info Seeker,

For some reason I had not noted what area you lived.. I think I thought that you were in the Mid or more towards the West, not on the Eastern side nearer to Thor.

Its to hope that maybe those listed are able to prepare and get thru Irma should be become maybe one of the Worst or strongest on record...(Not sure which has been the worst/ strongest prior)

Hope you can all survive to keep us updated.

and that all your properties remain in tact as well as can be.

I suspect that you all have to,  or are strongly advised to obtain special Hurricane Insurance...

Getting some of the outer rain bands now.  Some tornados in Palm Bay just below Melbourne tore up some trailers.  No one hurt.  I always stay prepared for whatever might happen weather wise or otherwise.

Irma is making landfall at Naples right now, pressure is 940 millibars, appears it may be diminishing (hopefully) and will continue to do so

Irma needs to fade away; quickly

Sir Richard Branson reveals devastation to Necker Island as Hurricane Irma rages on.

The damage caused by Irma on Necker Island and to Richard Bransons Properties is quite unbelievable !  :o

Quote
Sir Richard Branson has described first-hand the devastation that Hurricane Irma has left behind after “the eye of the storm” raged through his privately owned Necker Island in the Caribbean.
Richard Branson’s home in Necker Island in the Caribbean has been destroyed by Hurricane Irma

The billionaire Virgin boss is in Puerto Rico and has shared shocking images and videos on social media of flattened buildings, trees, and rising swamps as his family take in the full impact of the natural disaster on their home.

Record-breaking Irma swept across Necker and the British Virgin Islands before reaching Florida, and in an emotional message, Branson said his home had been “destroyed” and had felt the “full force” of the huge storm
Richard Branson’s Twitter

Writing from Puerto Rico, he said: “As you can see from the photos, much of the buildings and vegetation on Necker has been destroyed or badly damaged.

“We felt the full force of the strongest hurricane ever in the Atlantic Ocean.

“But we are very fortunate to have a strong cellar built into Necker’s Great House and were very lucky all of our teams who stayed on Island during the storm are safe and well.”

“The UK government will have a massive role to play in the recovery of its territories affected by Irma – both through short-term aid and long-term infrastructure spending.

“The region needs a “Disaster Recovery Marshall Plan” for the BVI and other territories that will aid in recovery, sustainable reconstruction and long-term revitalisation of the local economy.”

Hurricane Irma is the most powerful Atlantic hurricane ever recorded, according to The National Hurricane Centre in the USA, with winds as strong as 295 KM/H.

The governor of Florida declared a State of Emergency for the entire state and enforced a mandatory evacuation order for people to leave the area in advance of the arrival of Irma.

Branson’s son, Sam Branson, also appealed for people to stay calm in the Virgin Islands in a series of videos shared on Instagram, and said some had been fighting each other for supplies. He also said 250 US Marines had arrived to help locals.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, his father vowed to do whatever he can to support and assist the local community in “this extremely testing time”.

Speaking to Virgin colleagues via a satellite phone that was “just about working”, Branson said: “It is a traumatic time here in the British Virgin Islands.”
(Twitter)

“Hurricane Irma is continuing a path of destruction that brought the eye of the storm to Necker Island, Moskito Island and the whole surrounding area.”

He added: “I have never seen anything like this hurricane.

“Necker and the whole area have been completely and utterly devastated. We are still assessing the damage, but whole houses and trees have disappeared.

Leverick Bay on Virgin Gorda (Sam Branson’s Instagram)

“Outside of the bunker, bathroom and bedroom doors and windows have flown 40 feet away.”

Branson bought the island for $180,000 when he was a 28-year-old music executive and it was uninhabited. He spent three years and almost $10 million turning it into a private island retreat.

The storm was upgraded from a Category Two to One, and is currently belting out 170km/h winds over the city of Tampa, Florida.

After watching a news report on Iram,

It is suggested that it has not been as bad so far as it could have been..

Miami Got severely flooded but , did not get severe damage..

and Irma took more towards the North west of Florida to Tampa.

Winds were about 140 MPH, but have calmed down under 100 mph as it headed to Georgia..

It was suggested that it started from Eithiopia , Africa..but later started to became a Hurricane as it passed over the Eastern Atlantic.
