and I can figure out where he lives.

When i was learning stone cutting from an old Croatian chap in Toronto... one day we went out to but some jade as he needed to cut a stone for a ring...

So we went to a jeweler in China Town... it was funny  because the merchant was trying to sell us Adventurine ( a green quartz)  In typical C hinese broken English they went back and forth for a bit until Greg pulled out his card... "Ohhhhh you expert..."  At this point the guys boss came in and started it all over with the clerk waving arms say "no boss him expert"

Well he did show us the real jade after that :D  Would not normally buy retail but it was a rush job

JADE is a funny stone in the market

Technically "Jade" is a term for any green stone... but what is usually meant as true Jade is "JADEITE" from Burma

Then you have Canadian Jade  or NEPHRITE; Australian Jade or CHRYSPRASE

SERPENTINE (Soap Stone) is sold as Jade... looks like Nephrite but a scratch test will show it

I should go back to my gem pages LOL Never did get past Gypsum yet

Gems of any kind are a wonderful obsession. If you got to have one (obsession) that is.  I have for gotten so much and lucky to see across the street, these days.

So you cut as well as facet, what an art form! You could set up shop in you house , Zorgon,  people always have a" treasure", they want something done with.

I thought the article from GIA.edu was good, but we just published an article that goes much deeper. In this article, we answer these questions:

What is gemology?
What exactly does a gemologist do?
How can I become a gemologist?
What careers can a gemologist have?
How much can I expect to be paid as a gemologist?

We quote 19 different sources in the article -- it's quite authoritative.

Here's the link if you want to take a look: https://learningjewelry.com/guides/buying-diamonds/gemology/
Thanks in advance!
