The most interesting fact to come out of this video series (apart from the groundbreaking science) is that in Video 14 of 17, the following comes to light:
With the increase of technology it has become easier to obtain a more precise and accurate measure of the Geodetic of the Earth.
NASA has been spending $500 million/yr from (1976-1993) to gather data, and for construction of the Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) System, (which uses Ground based Telescopes and Antenna in conjunction with Space-based Lasers and Transmitters) to construct a network that will measure the Geodetic of the Earth with high accuracy.
So here is what they came up with:
Calculations based on the established global observational network to 1993 gave a mean "value of up-down [radial] motions of over 18 mm/year", this was considered extremely high when compared to expected deglacial rates. It was "expected that most VLBI stations will have up-down motions of only a few mm/year" and it was then recommended that the vertical motion be "restricted to zero, because this is closer to the true situation than an average of 18 mm/year".
Robaudo & Harrison (1993)
So! NASA spent $50 Million/yr for 17 yrs to construct the most accurate network possible to measure the Geodetic of the Earth, and then they don't believe the results??
Why, you might ask??
Well it is hidden in that sentence:
this was considered extremely high when compared to expected deglacial ratesAhha!!! Expected Deglacial Rates: The rate of Glacial melting from '
Global Warming'
So how did they try to get rid of this data, how did they hide it under the rug???
By setting the
Radial Increase to zero.
And what, you ask, gave them the right to do this???
How where they certain that this was the correct course of action??
because this is closer to the true situation than an average of 18 mm/yearOh, is that right???
So you knew the 'true' situation before you proceeded on the Scientific Investigation!
