Saudi Arabi - the Decline and Fall

The Saudi Connection...

Saudi Arabi - the Decline and Fall

Okay so one of the big things that came about in this election mess is the Saudi involvement.

Going to put some news in here in some sort of order...

I am going to start this with something Vlaimir Putins says because I said the same thing long ago when the "Refugee" mess started

And let's be clear when I am saying "refugees" I am refering to the war ready young healthy males flooding Europe, not real families in need

Putin says ISLAMIC refugees should go to Saudi Arabia or Iran “Where their radical beliefs are considered the norm”

He also tells Muslim immigrants “You can not impose your own rules (Sharia laws) in a culture that is not your own”

That is a very valid question. Saudi Arabia has the room, they have the wealth and they have Mecca.  So WHY can not Saudi Arabi take these people in?

Instead they do this:

Saudi Arabia offers Germany 200 mosques – one for every 100 refugees who arrived last weekend
The kingdom has faced criticism over its response to the crisis

Quote
Saudi Arabia has reportedly responded to the growing number of people fleeing the Middle East for western Europe – by offering to build 200 mosques in Germany.

Syria’s richer Gulf neighbours have been accused of not doing their fair share in the humanitarian crisis, with Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and the UAE also keeping their doors firmly shut to asylum-seekers.

According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, which quoted a report in the Lebanese newspaper Al Diyar, Saudi Arabia would build one mosque for every 100 refugees who entered Germany in extraordinary numbers last weekend.

So lets have a look at some other intersting points

Here is President Obama BOWING to the Saudi King.

Now in my Medieval life one King can bow to another but as equals that bow is a mere nod of the head in respect maintaining eye contact.  NOT a grovellin bow like a SERF as obama does here... The President of the USA should not bow to ANYONE

Well during the election dirt slinging it came forward that the Saudi's funded 20% of Hillary's foundation, in the hopes of receiving favors once she was elected...

Saudi Arabia Has Funded 20% Of Hillary's Presidential Campaign, Saudi Crown Prince Claims

Quote
In what may be the pinnacle of hypocrisy, moments ago Hillary Clinton, while speaking live on national security and addressing the Orlando shooting took some time from her constant bashing of the Second Amendment and calling for a ban on assault rifles, to say some less than kind words about Saudi Arabia whom it accused of supporting radical organizations. This is what she said:

The third area that demands attention is preventing radicalization and countering efforts by ISIS and other international terrorist networks to recruit in the United States and Europe. For starters, it is long past time for the Saudis, the Qataris and the Kuwaitis and others to stop their citizens from funding extremist organizations. And they should stop supporting radical schools and mosques around the world that have set too many young people on a path towards extremism. We also have to use all our capabilities to counter jihadist propaganda online. This is something that I spend a lot of time on at the State Department.

There is nothing wrong with that statement, as it is the whole truth - Saudi Arabia's involvement in supporting terrorism stretches from Sept 11 all the way through to ISIS - however, where there  is a big, and potentially law-breaking,  problem is what Jordan's official news agency, Petra News Agency, reported on Sunday citing the Saudi crown price, namely that Saudi Arabia is a major funder of Hillary Clinton’s campaign to become the next president of the United States.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-06-13/saudi-arabia-has-funded-20-hillarys-presidential-campaign-saudi-crown-prince-claims

Again we see the Saudi King (This is the current King Salman of Saudi Arabia)  I think he spent more time at the White House than the presidents do :P

It is however true that the old Saudi King passed away last year so there is hope for change, as the new one seems more moderate

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz dies

So now that Hillary is OUT...

Now I don't know if you are aware that Obama is 11th Cousin to the Bush family. This was discovered by a 12 year old girl and is posted in a video on youtube (I will add it later) She discovered ALL the presidents except one are related by blood including Obama

The connection of the Bush Familly to the Saudi Royal family is well known, especially the Bin Laddin family (Osama Bin Laddin)  The Bin laddin family owns 80% of the oil holdings in Saudi Arabia

Here is a history of the two families.

During 9/11 when all the planes were grounded, members of the Bin Laddin family were flown out of las Vegas then out of the country

There is SOME hope though. It appears that since the death of the Saudi King, they are falling out of favor in the US...  and with Hillary and Obama gone we shpould see this get stronger

In an unpresidented move Congress OVERRODE a VETO by Obama of a bill allowing victims of 9/11 to SUE Saudi Arabia for their part in 9/11

Congress voted 97% to overturn Obama's veto and pass the bill  The only NAY vote was Harry Reid of Nevada

Congress overrides Obama's veto of 9/11 bill letting families sue Saudi Arabia
Obama criticises decision by lawmakers to issue first veto override of presidency

Quote
Barack Obama suffered a unique political blow on Wednesday, when the US Congress overturned his veto of a bill that would allow families of the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks to sue Saudi Arabia.

The overwhelming bipartisan vote in both the Senate and House inflicted the first veto override of Obama’s presidency, less than four months before he leaves office. The White House issued an unusually scathing response.

“I would venture to say that this is the single most embarrassing thing that the United States Senate has done, possibly, since 1983,” press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters. “Ultimately these senators are going to have to answer their own conscience and their constituents as they account for their actions today.”

Obama expressed disappointment. “The concern that I’ve had has nothing to do with Saudi Arabia per se or my sympathy for 9/11 families, it has to do with me not wanting a situation in which we’re suddenly exposed to liabilities for all the work that we’re doing all around the world, and suddenly finding ourselves subject to the private lawsuits in courts where we don’t even know exactly whether they’re on the up and up, in some cases,” he told CNN.

Saudi Arabia warns US over 9/11 lawsuits bill - Euronews

Quote
Saudi Arabia has expressed “great concern” and warned of “serious unintended consequences”, following the US Congress’s decision to overrule President Obama and push through a law allowing legal action against the kingdom over the September 11 attacks.

Some analysts have speculated that Riyadh could retaliate by curbing trade with the US or restricting cooperation on security, a crucial relationship for US counter-terrorism and for peace efforts in Arab conflicts.

The Saudi riyal fell against the US dollar in the forward foreign exchange market on Thursday after the bill was passed, prompting a drop in dollar demand in Riyadh.

The law grants an exception to the legal principle of sovereign immunity in cases of terrorism on
US soil, clearing the way for lawsuits by the families of victims of the attacks seeking damages from the Saudi government.

Riyadh denies longstanding suspicions that it backed the hijackers who attacked the United States in 2001. Fifteen of the 19 hijackers were Saudi nationals.

There is still even more hope...  the evil empire may be toppling

Oil's Latest Casualty: Saudi Binladin Group Fires 50,000, A Quarter Of Its Workforce

Quote
In the latest clear sign that low oil prices are taking their indirect toll not only the US shale sector, leading to billions in capex cuts and hundreds of thousands of lost oil and gas jobs, on Friday Saudi newspaper al-Watan reported that the multinational construction conglomerate Saudi Binladin Gropu (which was founded in 1931 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Laden Sayyid, father of Osama bin Laden who was removed as a shareholder in the business in 1993 and disowned by the family) has laid off 50,000 staff as pressure on the industry rises amid government spending cuts to survive an era of cheap oil.

This means that Binladin, one of Saudi Arabia's biggest firms and among the Middle East's largest builders, whose total workforce is around 200,000 just fired a quarter of its total staff.

Reuters adds, citing al-Watan's unnamed sources, that the group has terminated the contracts of 50,000 workers - apparently all foreigners - and given them permanent exit visa to leave the kingdom. However, the workers have refused to leave the country without getting paid as some had not received wages for more than four months. Furthermore, they were protesting in front of the Binladin's offices in the country almost daily, the paper added.

What is most disturbing is that one of the biggest companies in Saudi Arabia if the not the Middle East, has had a series of pay disputes with workers this year as it appears unable to fund payroll. In March, scores of workers gathered outside one of the company's office in Saudi Arabia to demand unpaid wages.

Interesting development...

I know Donald Trump was at the opening of the Saudi Arabian Anti Terrorist facility.  It seems the Saudis have FINALLY taken an active role in the Middle East mess..

Well I saw this headline and tracked it back to REUTERS  and the date is  APRIL 17, 2018 / 8:26 AM / UPDATED 9 HOURS AGO  so there is no confusion

Saudi Arabia says open to sending troops to Syria under wider coalition

Quote
RIYADH (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia would be prepared to send troops into Syria as part of the U.S.-led coalition if a decision was taken to widen it, Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said on Tuesday.

“We are in discussion with the U.S. and have been since the beginning of the Syrian crisis about sending forces into Syria,” Jubeir told a news conference in Riyadh with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

He said Riyadh had expressed its readiness while Barack Obama was U.S. President to send ground forces into Syria if the United States were to add an on-the-ground component to the U.S.-led coalition fighting Islamic State insurgents.

There has been a major shakeup in Saudi Arabia  since King Abdullah died. Many Saudi Royals have been arrested...

Saudi Arabia arrests 11 princes protesting cuts to perks

Quote
Eleven Saudi princes were arrested Thursday after staging a sit-in at a palace in Riyadh, the kingdom's attorney general said Saturday.

The princes were protesting a recent royal order that "halted payments by the state to members of the royal family to cover their electricity and water utility bills," Sheikh Saud Al Mojeb said in a statement.
They also want compensation for the 2016 state execution of a cousin who was convicted of murder, the statement said.
Authorities had told the princes their demands were unlawful, but they refused to leave and public peace and order was disrupted, the attorney general said.
The princes were being detained at Al-Hayer prison south of Riyadh, the capital, pending trial.
"No one is above the law in Saudi Arabia. Everyone is equal and is treated the same as others," the statement said.
Two months ago, authorities arrested dozens of royals, businessmen and senior government officials as a part of a corruption crackdown. Those detained included the former head of the royal court, Khaled Al-Tuwaijri, and Saudi media mogul Waleed Al-Ibrahim.

Are the Saudi Arrests a Crackdown, Shakedown or Purge?

Quote
There’s never been a housecleaning quite like this one. Dozens of Saudi Arabia’s richest and most influential people, including princes and government ministers, were swept up by authorities beginning in November and detained at the palatial Ritz Carlton in the capital, Riyadh. There, they’ve been presented with evidence of their corruption, officials say, and given a choice: face trial or relinquish ill-gotten riches and go free. That process and the identity of some of the detainees have raised questions: Is the crackdown really a shakedown? Is it aimed at sidelining potential rivals to King Salman bin Abdulaziz’s favorite son and designated heir, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman? Some debate is inevitable in a country in which the definition of corruption is muddied by a long-tolerated system of patronage that’s allowed royals and Saudi businessmen to grow wealthy off government contracts and lucrative deals with multinational corporations.

2017 Saudi Arabian purge

Quote
A number of prominent Saudi Arabian princes, government ministers, and business people were arrested in Saudi Arabia in November 2017 following the creation of an anti-corruption committee led by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman (also known as MbS).

There are three alternate theories regarding the motives behind the purge: a genuine corruption crackdown, a project to gain money, or preparing to take over the crown.

The detainees were confined at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Riyadh (which hosted the announcement for the planned city of Neom on 24 October 2017), which subsequently stopped accepting new bookings and told guests to leave. Private jets were also grounded to prevent suspects from fleeing the country.

The arrests resulted in the final sidelining of the faction of the late King Abdullah and MbS's complete consolidation of control of all three branches of the security forces, making him the most powerful man in Saudi Arabia since his grandfather, the first King, Ibn Saud.

As many as 500 people have been rounded up in the ongoing sweep. Saudi Arabian banks have frozen more than 2,000 domestic accounts as part of the crackdown. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Saudi government is targeting cash and assets worth up to $800 billion. The Saudi authorities claimed that amount is composed of assets worth around $300 billion to $400 billion that they can prove was linked to corruption.

Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al Motjeb said in a statement that the arrests were “merely the start of a vital process to root out corruption wherever it exists.” He added that those detained will have access to legal counsel and pledges to hold trials “in a timely and open manner.” Meanwhile, King Salman appointed 26 new judges.

MbS stated that “We show them all the files that we have and as soon as they see those about 95 percent agree to a settlement...About 1 percent are able to prove they are clean and their case is dropped right there. About 4 percent say they are not corrupt and with their lawyers want to go to court.” When asked about reports of cash and assets totaling $800 billion that belong to the people accused of corruption, the official said, "Even if we get 100 billion back, that would be good."

Times They Are A Changin..."

Saudi Arabia's women vote in election for first time

Hatoon al-Fassi describes the election as a 'historical moment'

Quote
Women in Saudi Arabia have cast their first votes in the country's history, in municipal elections.

Women were also standing as candidates, another first, despite the conservative kingdom being the only nation where women are not allowed to drive.

A total of 978 women have registered as candidates, alongside 5,938 men.

Female candidates have had to speak behind a partition while campaigning or be represented by a man. Turnout was high, state media reported.

About 130,000 women registered to vote, officials said. That figure still falls well short of male voter registration, which stands at 1.35 million.

Salma al-Rashed was the first woman to register to vote. "It felt really good," she told the BBC. "Change is a big word but the election is the way to make sure we are really represented."

Black Panther to become first film shown in Saudi Arabian cinemas in 35 years

Black Panther is to become the first film shown in Saudi Arabian cinemas in 35 years when the Gulf state reverses a ban on theatres next month.

According to reports, the Marvel blockbuster will receive a gala premiere in Riyadh on 18 April as part of a deal done by US theatre chain AMC that will see 40 cinemas open in Saudi cities over the next five years.

Saudi Arabia had some cinemas in the 1970s but its powerful clerics closed them, reflecting rising Islamist influence throughout the Arab region at the time.

In 2017, the government said it would lift the ban as part of ambitious economic and social reforms pushed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He is currently touring the US seeking investments to broaden the economy and lessen its dependence on oil.

Saudi Arabians are avid consumers of western media and culture. Despite the cinema ban, Hollywood films and recent television series are widely watched and discussed.

AMC’s first cinema will be located in the King Abdullah financial district in a building originally intended to be a symphony concert hall, AMC chief executive Adam Aron said. The main theatre will feature about 500 leather seats, orchestra and balcony levels and marble bathrooms, he said. Three more screens will be added by mid-summer.
