i could really go off on this one..but i won't..
well at least not big time

i guess i am in the boomer group....born in '49..and i can tell you i have worked my entire life
and did without till i could pay cash for whatever i needed..that is not a complait
it is a life style

the gov have had their fingers in every bit of money i ever made..they took it before i got it and then taxed me for more later...so it's not like i am getting anything for free here
if i live long enough i may get half of it back...but i doubt that

now seeing as we are in different countries i can only speak for here and for my
pissed off feelings about the whole mess

first off.. i came in - in the middle of the system and haven't been able to create a change in it
that makes me mad because yes it does need changed

but there are a lot of the post boomers here who have learnt how to play the system...people making big bucks and collecting ssi....people who know how to get food stamps and
welfare and still drive big cars and go whereever they want
i could continue but i am sure you get the point of my taking except to your statement

Sad to say but to live life in a rational sustainable manner is next to impossible for this society due to the system and economy the post boomers have inherited.  That is the legacy of the boomer generation.

none of us have been able to live life in a rational sustainable manner for a long time boomer and post boomer alike and yes  the system that has created this economy is at fault..

so good luck in making the changes you want to see
may you have much better luck than i have

I don't blame the boomers.  There was clearly no intention for things to turn out this way.  It's just a shame that TPTB were so obsessed with unsustainable growth for so long.

The problem for the post-boomer is that we for the most part, can't earn as much as you did (in real terms) and have little chance of a stable job.  So if we only get back half of what we earn it will be very little and we will have less and have to retire later.

Now we are in it up to the neck.  We either change the failing system or things will get worse. :(

I'm positive in one sense.  I think there are solutions but there has to be the political will to make it happen.  That means waking up for many disaffected young people. No small task but there are a few of us already wide eyed and hungry for change.  For now though the mega rich will cling on.  Lets hope we aren't too late.

first
my apologies for my knee jerk response post..i broke my first rule of not taking anything personally
challk it up to my disappointment in my not getting more done

i applaude you in your view.. i think you are a great example to post boomers
i cheer you on..cause mostly i agree with what seeker said

sadly i have come to the conclusion that the way it is going to get fixed is when it bottoms out..
when the majority have nothing more to loose
i hope like heck that there is something left to save by then

meanwhile i wil continue my small part.. and i am thrilled to know others ..younger ..are doing the same

On the other hand, your post boomer generation have to support a huge population of pensioners who will continue to enjoy better living standards than most workers.  They also had higher living standards that the post boomers when they worked.

Stability in the modern society is becoming a thing of the past that is now just a memory the boomer generations can cherish and the youth can only dream of.  Sad to say but to live life in a rational sustainable manner is next to impossible for this society due to the system and economy the post boomers have inherited.  That is the legacy of the boomer generation.
I will have to disagree, my friend; My dad is 76 years old, and still works every day; the reason why? his pension, that he paid into for 60 years, and is still paying into, is not enough to live on unless he does nothing, goes no where, and counts every last penny;

my point above is about learning and accepting living within your means, not having multiple credit cards, being 100 percent responsible for your own actions, and not expecting the government to help you stay alive;

it is true that one person's thoughts or actions cannot undo the mess that has been created over the last 50 years; but I can influence and control my actions as I stumble along thru life, and add to the cause of positive change as an example to others;

the sad part is that the post boomers are on shaky ground because of those who make decision and policy, our dear PTB; turn off the damn TV, stick the video games in the trash can, same with the printed media, then focus on why things are the way they are, then do something positive to make it different;

during 2008 I kept hearing change over and over; now again it is time for change:
