This Is Why We Need Free Energy
« on: December 05, 2017, 05:45:48 PM »
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-12-05/cost-basis-our-economy-spiraling-out-control

Our society is living on debt to prevent collapse. In an era of globalization, I don't see cartels and monopolies as the problem of why costs are draining us.  Free energy coupled with things such as 3-D printing could save us. And it would bring down many of the oligarchs obstructing our democracies.

Hey, a man's gotta hope.

With free energy, who’s going to pay the millions of people put out of work by such a thing as ‘free’. Of course nothing is free, someone’s gotta pay for it. Oh I know, all those robots I keep hearing about. Let’s make them pay for it. Then we can all live off of gobment welfare. Yes let’s all live like dogs. No thank you.

Did you bother to read the link?

If costs go up endlessly, our nation ends up living like dogs, de facto.   Free energy would break the chain of abject dependency on centralized government - that foments perpetual war in resource laden nations.

Imagine a nation in which nobody had to work full time to own a house or car.  A nation in which millennials made their own stuff, mostly - instead of playing video games in their parent's basement.

I'm unclear about the  benefits of 3D printing.  As far as I know, that technology has limits.  I read the link.  I agree that healthcare costs are out of control.  A large part of that is due to the  refusal of doctors to prescribe older, less expensive, but still effective  medications.  But tell me, how is a 3D printed nurse going to replace me?  Will it have my skills and experience?  And since I don't  play video games, what will I do with  my time?  Just wondering.

Healthcare costs are out of control, because government is involved. Government and socialist. There's the problem.

Oh, please....  healthcare costs and outcomes are better in a variety of social democratic nations - and even capitalist Singapore. All with heavy government intervention.

Free energy would give us nearly free transportation and heat.  AI might give us much easier and more accurate diagnosis (note: "Watson" has already beaten some human doctors in this ).  3-D parts make repair cheaper and easier.  Stem cell technology might give us a nurse with a syringe instead of a 100K per operation surgeon.

And forms of 3-D printing might give us fully compatible organs.  My God, guys, use a little imagination or just keep up with current trends of what's being worked on.

My God please don’t pretend to lecture anyone about imagination. Sure there are better ways to do things, somethings work better than other things and some don’t.  But anytime you get the government with its massive bureaucratic machine involved, only bad things happen. I’m not talking about other 3rd world countries or socialist regimes. I’m talking about the US Government. As a retiree on SSI, I can tell you first hand that it doesn’t work.

It works in other nations because they are not trying to fund an overextended empire - that cares more about starting wars than taking care of veterans.  Yesterday, I read about a VA scandal in which they are used as a dumping ground for MD's in trouble or in danger of losing their license.

The people of Europe are far better off today than they ever were as subjects of colonial empires.  Germany and Japan, in particular, are vastly better off having left aggressive militarism behind.  This is part of my fascination with the rise of a China/Russia alliance that could soon tell the US "no" - as in 'you're not starting yet another pointless war".

We spent years going over free energy and the ramifications of it with Amaterasu, and evidently you either didn't pay attention or completely missed it   ::) ::)

Release of wide scale free energy would cause the collapse of society in general, since it would remove the need for anything petroleum related, or electrical in nature; as Sarge pointed out, that would put millions of people out of work, and the last time I looked, even if you didn't have to buy gasoline or pay an electric bill, you still have to buy food, and that takes money

no job, no money, bad juju. Care to explain how those people are going to survive? Think those basement dwelling millenials are going to actually get off their butts and attempt to learn how to do more than play video games, protest, and consume?

Do you also realize that the majority of your fellow citizens are strictly consumers and do not have the knowledge or skills to survive if they have to fend for themselves?

Actually the only way it could work with free energy and bots doing all the work is that you get a minimum basic income for everyone

Sweden is working on it  so is Hawaii  I think they are saying a minimum of $2,500 a month.  I could live quite well on that with the other things I do

Quote
On June 15, Hawaii state representative Chris Lee wrote a Reddit post about House Concurrent Resolution 89, a bill he says he introduced in order to "start a conversation about our future." According to Lee, "After much work and with the help of a few key colleagues, it passed both houses of the State Legislature unanimously."

Quote
The bill has two major provisions. First, it declares that all families in Hawaii are entitled to basic financial security. "As far as I'm told, it's the first time any state has made such a pronouncement," wrote Lee. The second provision establishes a number of government offices "to analyze our state's economy and find ways to ensure all families have basic financial security, including an evaluation of different forms of a full or partial universal basic income."

The congressman thanked "redditors" in his post, as he said the site became his first resource in considering UBI, and added a Reddit-standard TL;DR at the end: "The State of Hawaii is going to begin evaluating universal basic income."

Well on Eureka they showed a 3 day printer that can make fully functional human bodies :P

But if no one had work, all those idle hands are surely the tools for many devils :P
