The simple solution is just don't copy other peoples work without permission
There is no attempt to stop people's freedom of speech and right to express their personal opinion... but most people don't do that.. they copy and paste entire articles and say, "Hey, read this"
There is no need to copy an entire work by someone else to make your point. Its not your opinion if you copy someone else's
And the other issue... most file sharing and music sharing already allows you to make a copy for your own PERSONAL use... just not distribution. That has nothing to do with free speech. If I write a book, freedom of speech does NOT allow you the right to publish my work
Now fortunately many information sources already are dealing with this problem. They are either giving permission directly (simply ask them) or stating what the consider acceptable to reprint for NON PROFIT use
I have listed all those sources that I find tat allow copy of work and there terms
Copyright - Posting Work of OthersMost MSM sources now have included an embed code on their news casts so you can LEGALLY copy their videos to a forum or log... even Reuters and AP, the worst copyright hunters, have decided to go that way... no you can't repost it on Youtube to get your points
and add your 'slant' but you can insert it in a post
Many sources we use like NASA, GOV and MIL already are all public domain. Wikipedia is public domain. GNU and CC licenses are cropping up everywhere as a rebuttal to copyright issues
Russian mediea like Pravda, RT, English Russia allow full copy as long as you add link and sooner or later they carry all the news anyways
and usually better than US MSM
So instead of panicing aout copyright issues, just take the time to check your source for permission and coply with their terms
OR
Simply put it in your OWN wodrds... after all that is what the purpose of a discussion forum is anyway
