This comment... "What was striking about the sculptor of the Lion Man sculptor is that he or she had a mind capable of imagination rather than simply representing real forms"

Either that or during that time there really were animal headed humans running around. After all we see these representations in all cultures The Vedics, Egyptian, Annunaki, Mayans etc. all show us 'gods' that had animal heads on very healthy loking human bodies.

Exactly.  The arrogant presumption of it is what infuriates me.  I just have to keep telling myself... "Do not rage against pseudoskeptical atheism.  Do not rage against pseudoskeptical atheism.  Do NOT rage against pseudoskeptical atheism..."

Counts to ten; feels fury building regardless.

ARRRGH.

Sounds of Orcish roaring and oaths to eat Richard Dawkins' heart in front of him, accompanied by glass breaking, as well as various other pieces of furniture can be heard for several minutes.  Comes back, takes deep breath.

OK.  That was cathartic.  I'm calm again now. ;)

it realy is a cracker! a must watch, no speculation here, just raw facts!

From the EMMY AWARD WINNING Producers of "The Mystery of the Sphinx" and the Producers of "The Mysterious Origins of Man" comes a new ground breaking film about "New Evidence of Early Man: SUPPRESSED." What happens when scientific evidence conflicts with theory? In the early sixties, discoveries were made in Central Mexico, which were the handiwork of early man. Exquisitely carved animal bones and advanced spear points caused much excitement, including a Life Magazine article, until the dates came in. 5 mutually exclusive geological tests revealed they were over 250,000 years old. In spite of the geochronology, archaeologists insisted the dates were too ridiculously old. This world-class archaeological region became off-limits for official research, a "professional forbidden zone."

This is the story of the shocking events that occurred, told first-hand by many of the actual participants. It reveals how one field of science can conflict with another and how new discoveries must battle evidence vs. belief, exposing what some have called "the dark side of archaeology."

the diatom dating method nailed this one for me.

FROM THIS POST IN OOPARTS

So the Giraffe.. dated to 10,000 years ago, just like Gobeki Tepi with a carving skill that does NOT fit the time period of the hunter gatherers found in the area.

So they 'must have used flint' eh?

 ::)

Seems to me more and more of these odd finds are suddenly popping up all over the world. This one though was known about, just never presented much Despite the fact that they say pieces were being stolen and it was expaosed and ages with graffiti and trampling, the area looks almost too pristine;

Dabous Giraffe Rock Art Petroglyph
One of the finest examples of ancient rock art in the world - two life-size giraffe carved in stone

In the photo of the bones, anyone else think the middle skull, supposedly a child, is interesting?

  • It is not the critic that counts.
Just joining in with Zs excellent thread here http://www.thelivingmoon.com/forum/index.php?topic=470.msg3928#msg3928

An “OOPART”. Photographed on the sea-bed at a depth of 2,500 fathoms,1,000 miles west of Cape Horn, by US survey ship Eltanin, whose officers are close-lipped about it. “It’s a marine organism,” maintained an Eltanin officer in Auckland in 1968. Pressed further, he admitted: “But it still looks like an artifact to me!”

On 29 August 1964 the American survey ship Eltanin was carrying out a sweep of the sea-bed off the coast of South America. A series of submarine photographs was being taken of the area by means of a camera attached to a long cable. A surprise was in store when these photographs were developed. On one of the points, in marvelous detail, was an aerial-type object sticking up from an otherwise featureless sea-bed.

This object appeared to be metallic and perfectly symmetrical in construction. The array consisted of six main crossbars with small knob-like ends and a small crossbar at the top. Each cross looked to be set at angles of 15° to the others, and the whole system stood about 2 feet in height. The position where this object was found was given as latitude 59°08? south, longitude 105° west.

As this bit of ironmongery was situated at a depth of 13,500 feet below the surface

Hmm.. Fishy.

Thirty five tons of something big and dead was found on the beach in Tecoluta, Mexico in March, 1969 and whatever it was, it certainly received a great deal of publicity. The strange carcass's serpent-like body was covered with hard jointed armor.

A 10 foot bone tusk--estimated to weigh a ton--protruded from its head. UPI reported that biologists thought that the creature might have been a narwhal--which has a long tusk--but that after seeing the carcass, "they could not match it with any sea creature known to man."

The international press reported that a prehistoric monster of some sort had been beached and the world awaited further word on the carcass.

A seven-man commission of scientists reported on April 20, 1969 that the monster was a rorqual whale, known as the finback whale, however, that particular explanation fell short of explaining the 1 ton horn and body armor. Not only that, the first group of biologists who thoroughly examined it with the idea that it might be a whale concluded that again; it did not match any sea creature known to man.

MessageToEagle.com - Whom do these most remarkable statues depict?
They are in many ways anonymous - lack of human arms and typical indications of gender.

Was it an unknown extraterrestrial race of beings who visited prehistoric Jordan, a place at the crossroads of the oldest human cultures?
