John Lear's Portrait -
« on: August 07, 2016, 07:43:46 am »
Hello everyone - I wanted to share with John a recent painting done by a great artist by the name of Doug Auld - he is doing what he calls the "Whistleblowers" series (I think there's about 25 portraits now and he's still going) and recently did John's. I tried to leave a message for John in Facebook about it but not sure if it was received. Here is a link to the painting:  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10207495907770785&set=a.1144637491070.22063.1081476554&type=3&__mref=message_bubble If you'd like to contact Doug directly, I think this can be done through facebook, not sure how it works too well.

All the best to everyone here - strange times for sure! All my best xoxox

Doug Auld's web page! Directly discusses an upcoming film - Immaculate Conception", including video trailers. Also there is a 2 hour film that can be rented titled "Extra Ordinary Beliefs", with trailer.

Certainly a good painting of John!

Thanks for posting it. :)

It's not that good, it looks unfinished to me.

Good "likeness" maybe is a better description - yes, the pic does have some unfinished characteristics, especially in the lower chin area.

I'm sorry, but I don't think it's very good. He looks like he's wearing mascara. It's more like a caricature of him.

That's why I said it looks unfinished, I have seen many paintings in an unfinished state, my elder sister is a painter. :)

Thanks for the help fixing the link and getting the painting uploaded. I 'think' this was taken from a photograph that has a lot of lighting coming from the lower left. Anyway just wanted to share it here with the artists permission, thanks! :-)
