Youtube Videos
It should be remembered that simply posting a Youtube Video in a post without comment or explaining why you feel the video is relevant to a post is a bad idea. Here is why
1) A forum is a discussion forum and as such lets talk about a subject, not just link to endless youtube videos. The videos can and do offer content, but so do books. Simply saying "Here read this... or watch this..." won't help get your point across because few people even follow links, let alone read books.
2) Many people don't have the time to sit and watch lengthy documentaries all the time, so a short summary of the video is more likely to spark an interest and thus a response
3) Many people still have computer services with low band width, especially in rural areas and a 1 hour video take a LONG time to load. Also a lot of people still have older systems that don't have the resources to look at videos
4) Many people visit forums from work... and cannot watch videos because of time or restrictions on their work computers
5) Copyright issues. Many times (as an example) a video that can be viewed in the UK or other country is blocked in the USA due to copyright issues so it cannot be watched
6) Over at ATS and some other forums, people post endless UFO YT videos with a "Hey look at this one.." post. After awhile it just gets annoying because 99% are fake and hoaxes and no one took the time to check first.
So try to use a little common sense and video posting etiquette and remember that not everyone can view them for a variety of reasons
