Today, we are one month shy of the third anniversary
of the triple Level 7 MELT-THROUGHS at Fukushima, Japan.

THREE YEARS !

Chernobyl was 10 days !

From a mere 536 days ago, please consider the following a must-experience,
if you please, and subscribe and comment on sweet rosy heart's channel.

The Horrible Truth About Fukushima -- Helen Caldicott, MD
Published on Feb 9, 2014

Author and Pediatrician Helen Caldicott takes time out of her busy schedule to join me to discuss the unfolding events at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station in Japan. Fukushima was devastated by a massive earthquake on March 11, 2011 which led directly to a massive failure causing hydrogen explosions which blew the roof off of at least two of the reactor buildings.

Tepco and the Japanese government have understated the radiation dangers and the dire reality of the situation from day one.

Helen says,

at this point there is no "best case scenario" for Fukushima,
just worsening degrees of horror because it's scientifically
impossible to clean up what has already occurred.

And with thousands of spent fuel rods and thousands more active rods still in the fuel pools of the damaged reactor buildings, the worst case scenario - if another major earthquake hits the area - is an ecological nightmare of biblical proportions for everyone living in the Northern hemisphere.

A total of 111,592,997 people
(36% of the total population of the U.S.)
live within 50 miles of a nuclear plant.

Are you one of them?

The USGOV/NRC is quick to bandy about the ‘104’ reactors number to instill in the American psyche that the proffered map of those reactors is the end of it.

This is hardly all of the ill-fated truth. One of these nukes may be in a neighborhood near you.

How much do you really know about the number and locations of these death-dealing monstrosities?

How many people live near a nuclear power plant in the USA? | ZEIT ONLINE

Sixty-five (65) commercial nuclear power plants (with 104 reactors) are currently in operation in the United States. After radioactive material escaped from Japan’s Fukushima power plant, everyone within 30 kilometres (18 miles) of the doomed plant was evacuated.

Our map shows how many people live close to US nuclear power plants who would have to be evacuated in a similar situation. We have also included three Canadian nuclear power plants that are dangerously close on our Northern border.

Click here for large map of U.S. Nuclear Power Reactor Locations

Another gigantic elephant in the American boardroom is the veritable plethora of nuclear facilities that are not included in the much bandied about ‘104 commercial reactors’ number - which is designed to lull some of the less-informed (yes, LeDave, you people on Rio Linda), to ignore these not-so-nice neighbors whom may be quietly polluting your neighborhood - forever - with the nuclear waste shell game.

Here is the Construction and Operating License Status for the US as of this writing:

Just for grins, let’s see how many of these other nukes might be near you?

ML-1, first closed cycle gas turbine. Initial criticality March 30, 1961. Designed for 300 kW, but only achieved 140 kW. Operated for only a few hundred hours of testing. The ML-1 was designed by Aerojet General Corporation to test an integrated reactor package that was transportable by military semi-trailers, railroad flatcars, and barges. This reactor was shut down in 1965.

Key to the codes:
   =   First letter: S - stationary, M - mobile, P - portable.
   =   Second letter: H - high power, M - medium power, L - low power.
   =   Digit: Sequence number.
=   Third letter: A indicates field installation.

It might be worth noting here that just the U.S. Nuclear Fleet generates in excess of 10,000 tons of high-level radioactive spent fuel per year.

Do the math and then ask this: how is this deadly material transported to where it’s being stored - which brings us to the next logical conclusion:

It is sheer insanity to keep generating this deadly
radioactive waste with no long-term safe storage plan.

Has anyone been counting?

How many does that add up to?

Whatever the total number of these ‘deadly neighbor forever’ nuclear facilities adds up to, it’s way too many.

Our friend, Ken, ModernSurvivalBlog, nails the ‘what if’ scenario quite succinctly less than two weeks after the (ongoing) Fukushima disaster/fiasco changed the world forever.

March 24, 2011

"What if a Carrington Event solar flare were to occur, like what had happened in 1859?

Astrophysicists know that it WILL happen again, it’s just a matter of when. If an extreme solar event like that were to take down the electrical power grid, and-or damage electronic systems from its EMP effects, how long would it be before any, some, most, or all of these nuclear power plants would runaway to meltdown?

What if a true EMP weapon, or weapons, were to detonate and take down all electrical systems of a region, or wider, what then?

Are the backup generators and their associated electrical control systems impervious to EMP-type effects for example?

What about the control systems of the reactors themselves, are they EMP-proof?

What if the New Madrid fault zone were to unleash a magnitude 9+ earthquake, which geologists agree is possible, then how would the nuclear plants avoid catastrophe at the reactors in northern Arkansas, eastern Missouri, or others nearby?

What if the San Andreas tears loose in California, how will Diablo Canyon and San Onofre handle it?

What if there is an unforeseen ‘physical’ attack on one of these reactors?

What can the containment vessels withstand with regards to missiles of various strengths?

What if there is a cyber ‘virus’ attack along the lines of the Stuxnet computer virus that attacked the Iranian nuclear development facilities?

These simple questions led me to create a map of all U.S. nuclear reactors, both operational and decommissioned, so to have a look see where the danger zones ‘might’ be, should a worst-case-scenario occur.

It is difficult to impossible to answer the question, “How far away is a safe distance from a nuclear reactor?”, so I’ve created 100 mile radius zones (200 mile diameter) around each nuclear plant to provide some visual perspective. Yellow zones are around decommissioned plants.

Remember, it’s all about the wind direction too. The prevailing winds in the US are typically from west to east while normally dipping down into the south-central U.S. before bending back up the east coast.

Looking at the map density of the circle zones, I’m glad I’m out West."

"The federal government recently sponsored a detailed scientific study to better understand how much critical components of our national electrical power grid might be affected by either a naturally occurring GMD or a man-made EMP."

"Under the auspices of the EMP Commission and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and reviewed in depth by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the National Academy of Sciences, Metatech Corporation undertook extensive modeling and analysis of the potential effects of extreme geomagnetic storms on the US electrical power grid.

Based upon a storm as intense as the 1921 storm, Metatech estimated that within the United States, induced voltage and current spikes, combined with harmonic anomalies, would severely damage or destroy over 350 EHV power transformers critical to the functioning of the US grid and possibly impact well over 2000 EHV transformers worldwide."

Listen up, people, this is where the rubber meets the road.

EHV transformers are made-to-order and custom-designed for each installation, each weighing as much as 300 tons and costing well over $1 million.

"Given that there is currently a three-year waiting list for a single EHV transformer (due to recent demand from China and India, lead times grew from one to three years), and that the total global manufacturing capacity is roughly 100 EHV transformers per year when the world's manufacturing centers are functioning properly, you can begin to grasp the implications of widespread transformer losses."

Report of the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack

What do extended grid blackouts have to do with potential nuclear catastrophes?

Nuclear power plants are designed to disconnect automatically from the grid in the event of a local power failure or major grid anomaly; once disconnected, they begin the process of shutting down the reactor's core.

In the event of the loss of coolant flow to an active nuclear reactor's core, the reactor will start to melt down and fail catastrophically within a matter of a few hours, at most.

In an extreme GMD,
nearly every reactor in the world
could be affected.

How many people live near a nuclear power plant in the USA?

Does “undue stress on the community”
trump the invisible, slow death by fallout?

"Licensing a nuclear power plant is in my view, licensing random premeditated murder. First of all, when you license a plant, you know what you're doing--so it's premeditated. You can't say, "I didn't know." Second, the evidence on radiation-producing cancer is beyond doubt. I've worked fifteen years on it [as of 1982], and so have many others. It is not a question any more: radiation produces cancer, and the evidence is good all the way down to the lowest doses."

From Nuclear Witnesses, Insiders Speak Out, Chapter 4,
an interview with Dr. John W. Gofman, M.D., Ph.D., Professor Emeritus,
Molecular and Cell Biology, University of California, Berkeley

As former Ambassador Mitsuhei Murata has put it: full-scale releases from Fukushima
“would destroy the world environment and our civilization.
This is not rocket science, nor does it connect
to the pugilistic debate over nuclear power plants."

"This is an issue of human survival.”

During the three long and frightening years since the triple meltdown at Fukushima Daiichi, the world has heard less and less about this manmade disaster, as it continues to spew death into the atmosphere and Pacific Ocean.

The world's largest, provable cover-up is indicated in the NRC FOIA documents.

Some of the agencies/figureheads implicated are: NRC, DOE, EPA, CDC, NOAA, USAID, DOD (Navy, Naval reactors), White House, President Obama, David McIntyre, Eliot Brenner ("While we know more than what we say, we're sticking to this story for now."), Bechtel, General Electric, IAEA,INPO, NEI and many others in an orchestrated attempt to downplay and conceal the radioactive plume and fallout from Americans.

Money, power, and engineering hubris were put ahead of the lives and health of the people of Japan and the northern hemisphere as radiation releases continue to leave the site and migrate into the environment. There is evidence of subversion of the Freedom of Information Act by the NRC, and yet, virtually no one interviewed for this article was aware of the severity of the situation.

The Nuclear Industrial Complex, in collusion with the world governments and the mainstream media have managed - quite successfully - to bury the world's largest provable cover-up: the unending nightmare of the triple melt-throughs at Fukushima. Virtually nary a word on mainstream media regarding Fukushima on the Third Anniversary of this calamity.

(We did manage to post comments and links on CNN's Fukushima report.)    :P

The ongoing nuclear radiation catastrophe following the March 11, 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami has many disturbing false flag characteristics in common with the BP-Gulf crisis (including many of the same players), but that's another story.

Jim Stone has a really interesting read on the subject of Fukushima - a real 'who-dun-it'.   :P

For those who may have missed these headlines:

To put this in the proper perspective:

Chernobyl: 10 days and buried in concrete (now failing).

Fukushima: 1,102 days and counting...do the math.   :P

Contrary to mainstream media reports (what little there may be), Fukushima may wind up being more than a 100 to a 1,000 times worse than Chernobyl -- and will likely cause horrifying health problems for many Americans as well as Japanese.

Many experts claim that Fukushima has released the equivalent of over a hundred Chernobyls worth of radiation into the atmosphere. They also claim that in the 25 years following Chernobyl, radiation spread across Europe led to the "soft kill" early deaths of over a million people.

The cumulative effects of Fukushima fallout, to include radioactive isotopes that get into American food and drinking water, may lead to the early "soft-kill" deaths of tens of millions of Americans through myriad diseases and ailments stimulated by accumulated radiation poisoning.

Yet the Obama administration has done absolutely nothing to warn Americans to stay indoors when it rains or snows (when most of the radiation comes down), acquire radiation measuring devices, or to show even the most minimal care about what they eat and drink.

Seattle and other West Coast residents were not even informed that in April they were breathing in average of five hot particles a day compared to residents of Tokyo, who were breathing ten.

"Hot particles" consist of plutonium and uranium isotopes which are extremely toxic and dramatically increase the chances of cancer once they get embedded in lungs and other body tissues.

Quote
Hot particles are small, highly radioactive, and contain large amounts of radionuclides. They present significant health hazard when they enter the human body and are several orders of magnitude more dangerous than the same amount of radiation emitted from a large source over the whole body because if ingested or inhaled, they do damage to cells at close proximity, according to the Journal of Radiological Protection.

Some experts claim that Fukushima will ultimately release from 100 to a 1,000 times more radiation than Chernobyl, which "soft-killed" over a million people in Europe in the twenty five years following Chernobyl's 1986 melt-down with premature deaths related to cancer and other ailments.

(The Academy Award-winning 2003 documentary Chernobyl Heart claims that 9 million lives have been ruined, half of them involving children under age 5).

A substantial portion of Fukushima radiation is being continually carried over North America with eastward flowing jet streams, and is being continually rained down on major civilian populations and their drinking water reservoirs and agricultural areas.

California has been toast since the first plumes reached North America on 14 March 2011.

No one knows yet how long Fukushima nuclear materials will continue to fission and contaminate the air, ground, and ocean. It may not be far-fetched to assume that every month that goes by, as many as one million additional Americans gets "tagged" for premature death by this colorless, odorless, and tasteless threat.

Yet the US, Canadian, and Japanese governments and mainstream media maintain their cover-ups and silence.

They do not even warn Americans to stay out of the rain.

And just when you thought it couldn't get any stranger...

What is really going on in this nuclear shell game? Hope these guys are on our side...    :P

American supporters of Israel were delighted to learn that an Israeli company, Magal Security Systems, owned in part by the government of Israel, is in charge of security for the most sensitive nuclear power and weapons storage facilities in the United States.

The largest perimeter security company in the world, Magal started out as a division of Israeli Aircraft Industries (IAI), which was owned in part by the government of Israel. In recent years, however, Magal evolved into a publicly traded company, although IAI (and thus the government of Israel) still holds a substantial share in the highly successful firm.

What this means is that the government of Israel will have control over the security of America’s nuclear weapons.
...
Magal’s global interests are broad. Having secured 90 percent of Israel’s borders through a wide array of “space age” technology, Magal has now branched out internationally. Not only does Magal provide security for American nuclear facilities, but it also patrols most major nuclear facilities in Western Europe and Asia.

The Israeli firm guards Chicago’s O’Hare Airport and, for the last 15 years, has kept watch on the queen of England’s famed Buckingham Palace in London. And Magal safeguards 90 percent of the American prisons that utilize electronic systems.
...
All told, the Israeli company holds a 40 percent share in the worldwide market in perimeter intrusion detection systems and is working to expand its business in the protection of oil pipelines.??Magal is also said to be interested in guarding water lines around the globe, particularly in the United States.

In fact, Magal may have an inside shot at getting a monopoly in guarding America’s water supplies.

You were warned.

Is there such a thing as a globalist nuclear Death Wish?

"Forecast does not show actual levels of radiation."

Right. The CNTBO forecast does not show actual levels of radiation. The forecast shows the deadly radioactive particle dispersion from the triple melt-throughs at Fukushima blanketing North America thanks to the Jet Stream.

The real question remains: how much radiation is affecting every living thing on the planet, as the Jet Stream continues this worldwide dispersion each and every day?

This catastrophe is the
world’s worst industrial disaster.

Decommissioning and dismantling the reactors will take decades and complete cleanup is at least a century away ~ if ever.

The music’s over for the nuclear industry. Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima have savaged the myth of "too cheap to meter" and safe power, and the utilities are now forced to become de facto spent nuclear fuel storage sites, perhaps forever, as there is no permanent storage facility even being considered at this time after the Yucca Mountain $9 Billion debacle.

Hanford takes this fiasco a step further by implicating the military in nuclear skullduggery with the knowledge recently coming to light that hundreds of Navy reactors have been dumped at Hanford along with the contaminated equipment removed from the USS Ronald Reagan after the Fukushima contamination.

Despite its bloated defense budget, the Pentagon is misappropriating the fiscal resources of the DOE, which must dispose of nuclear-contaminated military hardware. Funds that could otherwise be allocated to replacing the storage tanks at Hanford are being spent on burying submarine reactors. It appears Hanford, along with the WIPP, have become 'substitute Yucca Mountains.'

Anybody want to hazard a guess as to where the 10,000 tons (annually) of high-level radioactive spent fuel from Navy nuclear assets are currently stored?

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is facing a radioactive mess of waste, fraud and mismanagement at every level. Could it be that an end to nuclear tyranny is directly linked to the revival of genuine democracy?

Liberty and Equality, or Revolution.

A deadly sinister and cynical force within America’s political establishment, economic elite and scientific elect is desperately trying to prevent Americans from recovering this nation’s foundational values of civic duty, ethical responsibility and common sense.

This travesty must be understood as to the possible ELE implications and dealt with immediately.

Unfortunately government cover-ups, intelligence agency sabotage, nuclear industry greed, national media suppression, and malevolent special interest group agendas continue to aggravate existing problems and create new ones rather than provide solutions. If permitted to continue unabated, the ultimate end game is a dead planet.

The burden therefore falls on the shoulders of grass roots citizen activism to overcome these continuing nuclear crises. EARTH AID - The Concert to Save All Life On Earth is dedicated to the creation of an interactive worldwide multi-media event to raise awareness about the challenges and solutions associated with nuclear energy.

Expect us, as we are you.

In this film Fairewinds Energy Education’s Arnie Gundersen gives an update on the state of Fukushima Daiichi three years later.
Fairewinds Energy Education

Arnie Gundersen, Fairewinds chief engineer (at 0:45 in):

Is most of the cleanup complete?
Are the people of Japan, especially the children, OK?
Are the Japanese evacuees returning home?
And, are the oceans OK?

Sadly the answers are no.

Gundersen (at 5:15 in): The aftermath of this catastrophe remains as hazardous as ever. The power plant site itself, entire sections of the surrounding Fukushima Prefecture and the Pacific Ocean are contaminated in ways that humans never imagined, so no method of mitigation exists. The Fukushima catastrophe will continue to be life-threatening and continue to cause extreme hardship for Tepco employees and cleanup workers, the former Fukushima residents, who and the Pacific ocean — its habitats and its on the ecosystem […]

The reactors continue to release the radioactive remnants from the molten cores into the surrounding groundwater that’s migrating off site. [...]

Tokyo Electric appears to have little control over the deteriorating environment, and it behaves like the victim, rather than the perpetrator of the greatest industrial mishap of all time.

What will the future bring?

The Fukushima Daiichi site will continue to
bleed radiation into the Pacific Ocean for 100 years.

As contaminated water beneath the site slowly evolves into a radioactive lake. […]

Most likely the cleanup of the entire site is at least a century away, if ever.

How has this calamity evolved into such a worldwide catastrophe?

It happened because the Japanese government
chose to protect Tepco, its financial interest
and the goals of the nuclear power industry.

What is a meltdown?

Interesting...the automatic fill-in...Google thinking 'for You'.

What is a melt-through?

Does it matter that much - or at all - that there are TRIPLE MELT-THROUGHS as opposed to triple meltdowns?

Remember, Chernobyl was a meltdown, an event lasting 10 days, not 1,102 as of 17 March 2014.

A typical PWR diagram. That's right...all this just to boil water.   :P

And generate enormous amounts of plutonium.   :P

Nuclear matters
"Melt-through" at Fukushima nuclear plant
Published 9 June 2011

Japan has admitted that molten nuclear fuel in three reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant has burned through pressure vessels, not just the reactors’ cores — creating a “melt-through,” which is a more serious problem than a melt-down.

This is what Jack Lemon was worried about in The China Syndrome: Molten nuclear fuel in three reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant has burned through pressure vessels, not just the reactors’ cores, a new Japanese report said.

The report also said Japan was unprepared for an accident of the severity of Fukushima. The Guardian reports that is the first time Japanese authorities have conceded that there was a possibility that the fuel suffered “melt-through” — a more serious problem than a core meltdown.

Seattle Weekly, Mar. 11, 2014: “The 3/11 snowfall was the beginning of Japan’s nuclear winter.”
Seattleland: Sailors’ Fukushima Lawsuit Seeks $1 Billion for Healthcare

By Rick Anderson Tue., Mar 11 2014 at 05:09PM

It’s no great surprise that the Pentagon does not believe that its Marines and sailors—many of them from Seattleland—were hit with life-threatening illness after pitching in to help the Japanese three years ago this week. That was March 11, 2011, the day that put the fuk in Fukushima.

This is, after all, the Pentagon that experiments on its troops with drugs and vaccines, tested mustard gas on soldiers and nerve gas on sailors, and denied the existence of Agent Orange and Gulf War Illness even as the bodies stacked up.

So when the Navy insists the sailors aboard the USS Ronald Reagan were not at risk and that all necessary precautions were taken, you have to look to history, and then to the odd-tasting snow that fell on the Reagan’s 1,000-foot flight deck that day off the east coast of Japan.

Some of the super-carrier’s crew remember the flakes leaving a metallic taste on their lips. Navy chopper crews, setting down from rescue and supply missions to aid Japanese stranded by the devastating earthquake, tsunami, and meltdown of the Fukushima nuclear power plant, also complained of sensing metal in their saliva.

It was similar to the metallic taste experienced by the crew of the Enola Gay 66 years earlier when their B-29 bomber flew over the radioactive cloud they created by dropping the first atomic bomb on Japan. With a major difference.

The Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs released an estimated one million curies of radiation that led to widespread illness and deaths, many related to thyroid disease and leukemia. But the human exposure to the Fukushima meltdown is being compared to the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster that released as many as 50 million curies. (In 10 days, not 1,102!) Chernobyl is predicted to eventually result in tens if not hundreds of thousands of early deaths.

The 3/11 snowfall was the beginning of Japan’s nuclear winter. And the radioactive iodine taste in their mouths was the Reagan crew’s first lesson about radiation. They next learned over the ship’s loudspeaker that they were not to drink or bathe in the ship’s contaminated desalinated sea water.

Then they found out their carrier was so hot that that South Korea, Guam, and even Japan barred it from entering their ports.

After returning to its home base in San Diego, the nuclear-powered carrier sailed on to Puget Sound the following January, 2012, for a scheduled 14-month overhaul at the Bremerton Navy yard. There is a report, citing shipyard workers, that carrier hardware contaminated by the Fukushima exposure was taken away on rail and buried on the Hanford Nuclear reservation.

Sailors and Marines began to complain of unexplained cancers, thyroid problems, excessive bleeding, and a litany of other ailments they feel are related to the exposure, estimating that the ship came within five miles of the Japan coast. One sailor’s baby was born with multiple deformations seven months after Fukushima.

No one seemed to be listening to servicemen such as Petty Officer 3rd Class Daniel Hair, who told Stars and Stripes about his pain, memory loss, ringing in the ears, and an immune-system disease so severe he was separated from a Navy job he loved. Fuk-ed over, he said, “I went from this guy in top physical condition to a deteriorating body and a whacked-out mind-set.”

But he and 80 other crew members now have a voice in federal court. “We represent a number of sailors from Everett and also from Bellevue,” says their mouthpiece, Paul Garner, who, with co-counsel Charles Bonner, is an attorney based in Sausalito, Calif. Last month they filed a lawsuit for damages against the allegedly negligent power-plant operator.

They seek to establish a $1 billion healthcare fund for affected service members.
...
In addition to the suit, Congress has now asked the Pentagon to review the exposure and report back next month. Meanwhile, the Navy’s denials of harm are being knocked down. One new study of 3/11’s effects, reported in The Asia-Pacific Journal, pegs radiation levels aboard the carrier at 30 times (3,000 %) above normal.

The report includes a transcript of a telephone conversation with a U.S. Energy Department administrator—the guy in charge of Navy reactors—who describes the Reagan’s radiation level as “much greater than what we had thought.” Some sailors, he tells another official, could have suffered irreversible harm within hours: “It’s a thyroid dose issue...”

"Hours." Not days, months or years.   :P

General Assembly describing the dangers that nuclear weapons and nuclear war poses to all nations and peoples.

The Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee chairman Anne McIntosh described the scale of the contamination in the food chain as "breathtaking" and warned that restoring consumer confidence would take time and money.

The Government has a role to secure the correct balance between affordable food prices and effective regulations that require transparency and quality.

The consumer cannot be left to face a Catch 22 where they can either pay for food that complies with the highest standards of traceability, labelling and testing or accept that they cannot trust the provenance and composition of the foods they eat.......So thats all right then?

BLUEFIN TUNA: A RECENT ARTICLE: Every bluefin tuna tested in the waters off California has shown to be contaminated with radiation that originated in Fukushima. Every single one.??

Over a year ago, in May of 2012, the Wall Street Journal reported on a Stanford University study. Daniel Madigan, a marine ecologist who led the study, was quoted as saying, "The tuna packaged it up (the radiation) and brought it across the world's largest ocean. We were definitely surprised to see it at all and even more surprised to see it in every one we measured."

Another member of the study group, Marine biologist Nicholas Fisher at Stony Brook University in New York State reported, "We found that absolutely every one of them had comparable concentrations of cesium 134 and cesium 137."

That was over a year ago. The fish that were tested had relatively little exposure to the radioactive waste being dumped into the ocean following the nuclear melt-through that occurred at the Fukushima Daiichi plant in March of 2011.

Since that time, the flow of radioactive contaminants dumping into the ocean has continued unabated. Fish arriving at this juncture have been swimming in contaminants for all of their lives.

Radioactive cesium doesn't sink to the sea floor, so fish swim through it and ingest it through their gills or by eating organisms that have already ingested it. It is a compound that does occur naturally in nature, however, the levels of cesium found in the tuna in 2012 had levels 3 percent higher than is usual. Measurements for this year haven't been made available, or at least none that I have been able to find. I went looking for the effects of ingesting cesium.

This is what I found:??When contact with radioactive cesium occurs, which is highly unlikely, a person can experience cell damage due to radiation of the cesium particles. Due to this, effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and bleeding may occur. When the exposure lasts a long time, people may even lose consciousness. Coma or even death may then follow. How serious the effects are depends upon the resistance of individual persons and the duration of exposure and the concentration a person is exposed to.

The half life of cesium 134 is 2.0652 years. For cesium 137, the half life is 30.17 years.??The Fukushima disaster is an ongoing battle with no signs that humans are gaining the upper hand.

The only good news to come out of Japan has later been proven to be false and was nothing more than attempts by Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) to mislead the public and lull them into a sense of security while the company searched vainly for ways to contain the accident.

This incident makes Three Mile Island and Chernobyl pale in comparison.

Those were nuclear meltdowns.

A nuclear melt-through poses a much more serious problem and is one that modern technology doesn't have the tools to address. Two and a half years later and the contaminants are still flowing into the ocean and will continue to for the foreseeable future.??As for me, fish is off the menu.

Actually, 1,109 days as of 24 March 2014.

Thor...as always you do a magnificent job of informing with much detail.  It is really and shame that the mainstream media does not even keep the people updated.  I think Fukushima has far surpassed Chernobyl and the Japanese people are the ones that initially suffered and now the rest of the world is getting dosed.

I have hollered on social media sites and for the most part I hear crickets.  It saddens me.

Govt.'s new plan for Fukushima waste storage sites -NHK WORLD

27 March 2014

Japan's government has shown Fukushima officials a new plan to build interim storage facilities for contaminated soil and other radioactive waste.

The plan calls for reducing the number of towns to host the facilities in Fukushima Prefecture from 3 to 2, following demands by local governments. Environment Minister Nobuteru Ishihara and Reconstruction Minister Takumi Nemoto visited the prefectural government office on Thursday.

The ministers handed the plan to Fukushima Governor Yuhei Sato and representatives from 8 municipalities, and asked them to accept it. The plan was revised after Fukushima officials demanded changes last month.

The facilities will store soil and other waste from cleanup work in areas contaminated by the Fukushima nuclear accident in March 2011. They are to be used until final disposal sites are ready.

The government originally planned to build the facilities in 3 towns near the plant -- Futaba, Okuma and Naraha.

The revised plan dropped Naraha because radiation levels there are lower and evacuees hope to return to their homes as soon as possible.

The plan calls instead for building a facility in Naraha to solidify ash from incinerating debris.

The government says it will purchase land plots for the interim facilities. But local governments favor renting the plots from their owners. Government officials say they will explain their plans in detail to residents of Futaba and Okuma. But the residents are concerned because they have not been offered programs to help rebuild their lives and revitalize the local economy.

The focus now shifts to whether the government can develop convincing programs as well as acceptable prices for land purchases.

Error suspected in spent fuel removal trouble -NHK WORLD

27 March 2014

The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant says human error was most likely the cause of a problem that halted spent fuel removal at one of the crippled reactors. Tokyo Electric Power Company has been transferring hundreds of spent and unused fuel assemblies from a pool in the damaged No. 4 reactor building to a safer facility in the site.

But on Wednesday, a crane used to hoist a cask containing fuel assemblies from the pool suddenly stopped, halting work.

TEPCO officials say a worker mistakenly tried to operate the crane with an auxiliary brake on. Noticing the error, he released the brake and retried, but the crane failed to operate once the warning lamp had gone on.

The officials say the worker's error led to excess current to the crane's motor, which automatically locked operation. The problem didn't damage the crane or its motor.

They say they will soon resume fuel transfer operations, taking preventive measures including rechecking the work process. In November last year, TEPCO started operations to remove more than 1,500 spent and unused fuel assemblies from the pool in the crippled No.4 reactor building.

As of Tuesday 550 assemblies had been removed.

The above comment on left on http://www.truthdig.com/ regarding Harvey's poignant article.    ;)

The Three Mile Island nuclear power generating station shown here in 2011 in Middletown, Pa., continues to generate electric power with the Unit 1 reactor. TMI was the scene of the 1979 meltdown of the Unit 2 reactor, the worst nuclear power plant disaster in the United States. (AP/Bradley C Bower)

The Nuclear Omnicide
by Harvey Wasserman

In the 35 years since the March 28, 1979, explosion and meltdown at Three Mile Island, fierce debate has raged over whether humans were killed there.

In 1986 and 2011, Chernobyl and Fukushima joined the argument. Whenever these disasters happen, there are those who claim that the workers, residents and military personnel exposed to radiation will be just fine.

Of course we know better.

We humans won’t jump into a pot of boiling water. We’re not happy when members of our species start dying around us.

But frightening new scientific findings have forced us to look at a larger reality: the bottom-up damage that radioactive fallout may do to the entire global ecosystem.

When it comes to our broader support systems, the corporate energy industry counts on us to tolerate the irradiation of our fellow creatures, those on whom we depend, and for us to sleep through the point of no return.

Case in point is a new Smithsonian report on Chernobyl, one of the most terrifying documents of the atomic age.

Written by Rachel Nuwer, “Forests Around Chernobyl Aren’t Decaying Properly” cites recent field studies in which the normal cycle of dead vegetation rotting into the soil has been disrupted by the exploded reactor’s radioactive fallout.

“Decomposers—organisms such as microbes, fungi and some types of insects that drive the process of decay—have also suffered from the contamination,” Nuwer writes. “These creatures are responsible for an essential component of any ecosystem: recycling organic matter back into the soil.”

Put simply: The microorganisms that form the active core of our ecological bio-cycle have apparently been zapped, leaving tree trunks, leaves, ferns and other vegetation to sit eerily on the ground whole, essentially in a mummified state.

Reports also indicate a significant shrinkage of the brains of birds in the region and negative impacts on the insect and wildlife populations.

Similar findings surrounded the accident at Three Mile Island. Within a year, a three-reporter team from the Baltimore News-American cataloged massive radiation impacts on both wild and farm animals in the area.

The reporters and the Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed widespread damage to birds, bees and large kept animals such as horses, whose reproductive rate collapsed in the year after the accident.

Other reports also documented deformed vegetation and domestic animals being born with major mutations, including a dog born with no eyes and cats with no sense of balance.

To this day, Three Mile Island’s owners claim no humans were killed by radiation there, an assertion hotly disputed by local downwinders.

Indeed, Dr. Alice Stewart established in 1956 that a single X-ray to a pregnant woman doubles the chance that her offspring will get leukemia. During the accident at Three Mile Island, the owners crowed that the meltdown’s radiation was equivalent “only” to a single X-ray administered to all area residents.

Meanwhile, if the airborne fallout from Three Mile Island and Chernobyl could do that kind of damage to both infants and the nonhuman population on land, how is Fukushima’s continuous gusher of radioactive water affecting the life support systems of our oceans?

One-thousand One Hundred Seventeen
- 1,117 - days as of 01 April 2014.

In fact, samplings of 15 tuna caught off the coast of California indicate all were contaminated with fallout from Fukushima.

Instant as always, the industry deems such levels harmless. The obligatory comparisons to living in Denver, flying cross country and eating bananas automatically follow.

But what’s that radiation doing to the tuna themselves? And to the krill, the phytoplankton, the algae, amoeba and all the other microorganisms on which the ocean ecology depends?

Cesium and its Fukushima siblings are already measurablein Alaska and northwestern Canada. They’ll hit California this summer.

The corporate media will mock those parents who are certain to show up at the beaches with radiation detectors. Concerns about the effect on children will be jovially dismissed. The doses will be deemed, as always, “too small to have any impact on humans.”

But reports of a “dead zone” thousands of miles into the Pacific do persist, along with disappearances of salmon, sardines, anchovies and other ocean fauna.

Back in 2012, the Vancouver Sun reported that cesium-137 was being found in a very high percentage of the fish that Japan was selling to Canada…

• 73 percent of mackerel tested
• 91 percent of the halibut
• 92 percent of the sardines
• 93 percent of the tuna and eel
• 94 percent of the cod and anchovies
• 100 percent of the carp, seaweed, shark and monkfish

Of course, atomic reactors are not the only source of radioactive fallout. Atmospheric bomb testing from 1945 to 1963 raised background radiation levels throughout the ecosphere. Those isotopes are still with us.

Burning coal spews still more radiation into our air, along with mercury and other lethal pollutants. Fracking for gas draws toxins up from the earth’s crust.

Quote
In a 1978 paper for Science, J. P. McBride at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and his colleagues looked at the uranium and thorium content of fly ash from coal-fired power plants in Tennessee and Alabama.

To answer the question of just how harmful leaching could be, the scientists estimated radiation exposure around the coal plants and compared it with exposure levels around boiling-water reactor and pressurized-water nuclear power plants.

The result: estimated radiation doses ingested by people living near the coal plants were equal to or higher than doses for people living around the nuclear facilities. At one extreme, the scientists estimated fly ash radiation in individuals' bones at around 18 millirems (thousandths of a rem, a unit for measuring doses of ionizing radiation) a year.

Doses for the two nuclear plants, by contrast, ranged from between three and six millirems for the same period. And when all food was grown in the area, radiation doses were 50 to 200 percent higher around the coal plants.

Industry apologists say reactors can moderate the climate chaos caused by burning those fossil fuels.

But fighting global weirding with atomic power is like trying to cure a fever with a lethal dose of X-ray.

I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor ; Remix'd footage from Fuke Live Cam via Nuckelchen & my intro piece for the Fairy Tale i'm writing/scripting....

Wish i had a Tech Friend to help me, but i will forge on; my Characters are about to wake up; it's A Post-Fuke World of Glass & Stone
; Planetary temps range from 3000C at Reactors (almost cooled?) and the Ice Age, which sets the Planet at minus 111 Degrees, more or less...

The techs are standing by; we have almost everything we need for an 'away team'...

I would also make use of this post to invite Dr. Judy Wood to enter our discussions at this point, and wlcome her aboard as one of the very few visionaries that we have, to help our cause.
Rest assured i will help in any way i can.....

1,535 - 550 = 1,485 to go.

I'd like to query that arithmetic if I may?

Greetings Friend Fruitbat:

We know, it was a cheap ploy to see if anyone was actually reading any of this.   :P

Thank you for your participation.

Pick any number...it's all BS anyway.    ;D
