sure hope enough of us looked up...i just luv the sky shows
sorry.. i should have posted this yesterday

if the weather is clear this weekend, even those who normally do not look at the sky may be struck by a dazzling celestial scene in the west after sunset: a view of two bright planets and an even more eye-catching crescent moon.

The two brightest planets, Venus and Jupiter, will accentuate the beauty of the slender crescent moon on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 25 and 26). The planet Mercury may also be visible too, low on the horizon, beneath Venus depending on your sky conditions, but it will disappear quickly after sunset.

Mars Moves To 'Opposition' Point On March 3, Giving Skywatchers Year's Best View Of Red Planet

By: Mike Wall

Published: 03/02/2012 09:52 AM EST on SPACE.com

UPDATE: See our latest skywatching tips to see Mars at opposition here: Mars Visible in Night Sky, But Its 2 Moons Are Hard to Spot

Mars will make a close approach to Earth Saturday (March 3), and interested skywatchers can follow the action live online.

Every 26 months, the orbits of Earth and Mars align such that the two planets form a relatively straight line with the sun. This cosmic event is called an opposition, because the Red Planet sits on the exact opposite side of Earth from the sun.

Mars will be in opposition to Earth Saturday, and it will be visible even to stargazers under the cloudiest of skies. That's because the online Slooh Space Camera will broadcast a free, real-time feed of the Mars opposition, beginning at 11:00 p.m. EST (0400 GMT on March 4).

well  some  in england were looking up at a meteor..they think
cool description at the end says this

It was an amazing sight. Bright orange flames trailing behind it as it slowly burnt itself out," she told the BBC.

Another witness, who called BBC Radio 5 Live's Stephen Nolan programme, said: "I looked up and saw these two huge tails of light coming off it and I thought it was a plane on fire going down into Edinburgh.

"It was massive, there was the red at the back of it, then these two huge white tails and then these blue bits at the very end."

article here       http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-17248959

Meteor witnessed across Britain

A "huge fireball" was reported travelling from northern Scotland to southern England at about 21:40 GMT, amid fears a plane had crashed.

Police received reports of a "bright light" and "orange glow", but aircraft-related incidents were ruled out.
