Help for technical issues on your PC
A51Watcher:
I thought this a good place for helping members in need of advice to solve technical issues on their PC.
For instance, Amaterasu for one can not watch the youtube videos we often place in our posts for fear the Flash plugin will start, which causes her PC to freeze up.
Anybody have an easy suggestion for getting around this?
The 2 solutions to this that I am aware of are -
A) Go to one of the various websites that allows you to download youtube videos by entering in the URL of the video you want, and then you can watch them from your own hard drive. (These sites make also invoke flash though, not sure.)
You can locate the URL of a video in a post by clicking QUOTE on that post, and you will see the video code displayed.
B) We find and use an FTP site to share videos, again being able to watch them from your hard drive.
I am confident we have enough savvy members here to overcome any obstacle a member may be having.

OS, browser that has been used? :)
Amaterasu:
Yes, the Flash virus kicks in any time I'm at a site that uses a Flash element. I had to back off going to 12160 because of this and it's aggravating. If I want to edit My blog there, I know I have to endure slowness, and then reboot afterwards.
And every page of YT that kicks the vid in actively starts the whole annoying process. I had a free scanner software that found the virus but would not clean it off unless I "upgraded" (for a price). It would clean the low-risk cookie things, but when I told it to clean the Flash thing, POOF! There was the "Upgrade Now?" thing.
[sigh]

Am - p.s. if the version of SUPER you get whines that your old clunker won't run well on it, I still have an earlier version that runs just fine on old clunkers! ;D
Amaterasu:
Thanks for reminding Me! Been so busy with other things. Going to get it now.
EDIT to add: Hmmm. I go here: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html and click the DL button and it takes Me to: http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Video-Converter.aspx?type=GoogleImageAds&gclid=CPWSrKaRpLACFUFo4AodxjhRZA
Is this the right page?
