Aircraft Carrier CVN-77 Parks Next Door To Syria
« on: November 24, 2011, 11:03:37 pm »
The Arab League (with European and US support) are preparing to institute a no fly zone over Syria. Today, we get an escalation which confirms we may be on the edge.

Just out from CBS: "The U.S. Embassy in Damascus urged its citizens in Syria to depart "immediately," and Turkey's foreign ministry urged Turkish pilgrims to opt for flights to return home from Saudi Arabia to avoid traveling through Syria."

But probably the most damning evidence that the "western world" is about to do the unthinkable and invade Syria, and in the process force Iran to retaliate, is the weekly naval update from Stratfor, which always has some very interesting if always controversial view on geopolitics, where we find that for the first time in many months, CVN 77 George H.W. Bush has left its traditional theater of operations just off the Straits of Hormuz, a critical choke point, where it traditionally accompanies the Stennis, and has parked... right next to Syria.

Thank you Starwarp2000 for sharing this map and making this thread!
It is interesting to me how the United States has carved up the world for it's Navy into all these regions.
I am sure there are other 'carvings' for other branches of the military, economic/corporate interests, etc, as well... (DUH  ;D )

Any idea where Region 1 is?

Side note: To SEE an Air Craft Carrier with the name of 'G. H. W. Bush' on it makes my skin crawl...  :o

Region 1 would be inside the US. It is then broken up into 10 internal regions.

National Priorities List (NPL) Sites by EPA Region: http://www.epa.gov/fedfac/ff/nplregion2.htm

Weird how the EPA administers the Naval Regions?? Could be a way to hide troop movements??

Oh, yes when I saw the name of that Aircraft Carrier i was nearly sick  >:(

P.S. At least they didn't call it the USS (I don't know where the 9 trillion went, honestly!) Rumsfeld. Now that would of been a travesty.
But at least they would have an operational advantage: It would disappear and be lost to enemy radar.

Senate Committee: Where is the  Aircraft Carrier USS Rumsfeld?

Rumsfeld: I have no recollection of it's whereabouts! Do we even have one called that?  ;D ::)
