Rabun Home-Boy Hoop House & More
« on: June 14, 2012, 11:24:19 am »

Greetings:

We are happy to share these recent pics with you.

This is our home, not Four Winds Peace Center, a photo/editorial of which will be following in a separate thread.

The hoop house photos are with the fabric removed for clarity.

The Home-Boy Hoop House

MATERIAL LIST

(12) 1/2" x 24" Rebar (Home Depot has it already cut and on the shelf buy the piece (couldn't resist)

(6) 1" x 20' PVC

(1) 10' x 1-1/4" PVC
................ which makes (20) 1-1/4 x 6" pieces to attach fabric (cut a section out lengthwise to fit over the 1" pipe PLUS your particular fabric - we find about 1/3 of it removed provides a snug fit WITH OUR FABRIC)

(1) 20' X 20' clear plastic radiation rain shield (we remove ours when fallout not raining)

Lay PVC pipes on a level surface in the hot sun and let them toast 'til plenty warm to the touch.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and pop Hansel and... oops, wrong recipe.
(Wouldn't want to intrude on baddmoves schrooms delicacy - can't ever seem to get them schrooms from the field to the pan without munching down...)

Back to topic:

Install the Rebar pieces at the corners and sides of a rectangle 20' x 10' -
every 4 feet, approximately 14" into the ground.

Many people use a sledgehammer for this. (The Seeker would merely will it..)

Place one previously-warmed PVC pipe on the end of one of the Rebars on the end of one of the rectangle sides and - holding the pipe by the very end couple of feet - CAREFULLY bend it to fit over the opposite Rebar 10 feet away

Repeat 5 more times

- Voila!

Your very own Hoop House!

The already fruit-bearing Roma tomato plant in the foreground is already over 6-feet tall and will grow to 8-9 feet.

Now that is what we call a significant volunteer squash!

A look from out the front door yesterday in the rain

Karyn's garden

Baby Doll, mother kitty 14 years young; Boo Boo Bear, 12-year young Rottweiler in foreground; Sammy, 4-years young rescued from Hurricane Ike

Sammy, a close-up

Work-in-progress of a mediation area with recirculating babbling brook

We go pretty much where we want to here in gold country...

Guess who’s wearing me hat?

BELOW:

When not responding to a hurricane, tornado, whatever or producing concerts, take-downs and removal of large, dead, dangerous white pines over million-dollar lake houses are my specialty. Even the competition recommends our work.

Got trees?

Notice how close the opposite shore is on this part of Lake Rabun - called 'the Narrows' for a good reason. The dead pine tree is over 100-feet tall.

Another day at the office...

Omigosh! He’s wearing the same headband as in the other photo with ‘what’s his name...’

Notice where the boat is...

When it splashed, it broke into three pieces and caused a 4-ft. inland lake tsunami!

I told them boys in the boat to hold on...

And how was your day?

OMG!  It's so LOVELY!  It's like a place I have seen in a dream from decades ago - when I still remembered dreams and dreaming!

Thor, I hope it's still on!  I am eager as all getout!  All the more so now!

Nice, Thor!
It looks as if youve got yourself a beautiful set of friends to share the time with there!
Your gardens are really cool, and your doggies are, too!

Damn, that tree is huge! I wouldve stayed a mile away when it came down!

Amy will be so happy when she sees the beauty of Georgia, and finds the welcoming heart you certainly have.

I personally hope when I get to visit, it isnt under martial law, but it's really cool to know I have a brother in North Georgia if the time comes to make the move!

Thanks for posting the pics, as I always wondered what you looked like, and what Rabun looked like, too!

God's country?
You betcha!

Cheers!

Goodness sakes, how beautiful!

Surely you have yourself a Shangri la.

Thanks for sharing about the hoop house, and
the makings of it. Noted for future plans here.

Love what you got going on there, very well done.

Blessings,

Greetings:

Thanks everyone for all the accolades; now come visit us in person...

Rabun County is an excellent vacation retreat and an excellent place to be when it's time to be in an excellent place. :D

These two family members missed the photo shoot the other day.

This is Little Bit, 9 years young - that makes over 300 lbs of "friendlies"
- or not, depending on who you are.

This is Midnight, Baby Doll's daughter, 9 years young.

This is a little friend from the forest come visiting...

We also have multitudes of bird houses for our feathered friends...

And more scenic shots of Lake Rabun from the recent view-clearing tree job.

Remember folks, this is my office... where we go to work... No Traffic...  :D

More to come...

Thanks for sharing, Thor; most people do not realize or appreciate the wondrous beauty of our world or that there are many lush, beautiful places here in the peach state... will be in touch and hopefully get by to visit before long...

The Amy Hobbit abode.    8)

Her view from the front porch.   :P

That cottage on the creek is about 5 miles
down the mountain from the mothership,
where zorgon has volunteered our
1,000-acre backyard for Rabun County's first nuke.    :P

Last week at the casa... nope, nothing strange about snow in late March in Rabun County    :o

Now that the snow's gone, we can put tires back on the VFD Brush Truck.   :P

No, we don't get stuck.   :P

WOW.
What a paradise. Majestic I'd say.

How far away from Atlanta?

If I can throw some new tires on the van I will try to be there next year to visit family. I would love to see all of you.

Yo Buddy!

Depending on the traffic, less than two hours - 108 miles NE.

Depending on when we want to get together, we will put together a PLAN so all can stay at the guest house (10 bedrooms) at Four Winds Peace Center. The Center is currently in hiatus ATM.   :P

Personally, we want this to take place this year - August or September seems about right for lead time...   ???

Aside from rejoicing in person, what might be the agenda for such a meeting?

Looking at the scenery?    :P

We are fully capable of hosting such an event, if there is sufficient interest and intent.   ;)

What size tires are needed for that van?

BTW, we have the capability to videotape a 'conference' and bring in those across the waters at the same time to participate.
