Greetings:

We are happy to share these recent pics with you.

This is our home, not Four Winds Peace Center, a photo/editorial of which will be following in a separate thread.

The hoop house photos are with the fabric removed for clarity.

The Home-Boy Hoop House

MATERIAL LIST

(12) 1/2" x 24" Rebar (Home Depot has it already cut and on the shelf buy the piece (couldn't resist)

(6) 1" x 20' PVC

(1) 10' x 1-1/4" PVC
................ which makes (20) 1-1/4 x 6" pieces to attach fabric (cut a section out lengthwise to fit over the 1" pipe PLUS your particular fabric - we find about 1/3 of it removed provides a snug fit WITH OUR FABRIC)

(1) 20' X 20' clear plastic radiation rain shield (we remove ours when fallout not raining)

Lay PVC pipes on a level surface in the hot sun and let them toast 'til plenty warm to the touch.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and pop Hansel and... oops, wrong recipe.
(Wouldn't want to intrude on baddmoves schrooms delicacy (http://www.thelivingmoon.com/forum/index.php?topic=1501.0) - can't ever seem to get them schrooms from the field to the pan without munching down...) (http://www.thelivingmoon.com/forum/Smileys/default/shocked.gif)

Back to topic:

Install the Rebar pieces at the corners and sides of a rectangle 20' x 10' -
every 4 feet, approximately 14" into the ground.

Many people use a sledgehammer for this. (The Seeker would merely will it..)

Place one previously-warmed PVC pipe on the end of one of the Rebars on the end of one of the rectangle sides and - holding the pipe by the very end couple of feet - CAREFULLY bend it to fit over the opposite Rebar 10 feet away

Repeat 5 more times

- Voila!

Your very own Hoop House!

The already fruit-bearing Roma tomato plant in the foreground is already over 6-feet tall and will grow to 8-9 feet.

Guess who’s wearing me hat?

BELOW:

When not responding to a hurricane, tornado, whatever or producing concerts, take-downs and removal of large, dead, dangerous white pines over million-dollar lake houses are my specialty. Even the competition recommends our work.

Got trees?

Notice how close the opposite shore is on this part of Lake Rabun - called 'the Narrows' for a good reason. The dead pine tree is over 100-feet tall.

Another day at the office...

Omigosh! He’s wearing the same headband as in the other photo with ‘what’s his name...’

Notice where the boat is...

When it splashed, it broke into three pieces and caused a 4-ft. inland lake tsunami!

I told them boys in the boat to hold on...

And how was your day?

OMG!  It's so LOVELY!  It's like a place I have seen in a dream from decades ago - when I still remembered dreams and dreaming!

Thor, I hope it's still on!  I am eager as all getout!  All the more so now!

Nice, Thor!
It looks as if youve got yourself a beautiful set of friends to share the time with there!
Your gardens are really cool, and your doggies are, too!

Damn, that tree is huge! I wouldve stayed a mile away when it came down!

Amy will be so happy when she sees the beauty of Georgia, and finds the welcoming heart you certainly have.

I personally hope when I get to visit, it isnt under martial law, but it's really cool to know I have a brother in North Georgia if the time comes to make the move!

Thanks for posting the pics, as I always wondered what you looked like, and what Rabun looked like, too!

God's country?
You betcha!

Cheers!
Dave

Goodness sakes, how beautiful!

Surely you have yourself a Shangri la.

Thanks for sharing about the hoop house, and
the makings of it. Noted for future plans here.

Love what you got going on there, very well done.

Blessings,

Rabun County (http://ngeorgia.com/ang/Rabun_County) is an excellent vacation retreat and an excellent place to be when it's time to be in an excellent place. :D

These two family members missed the photo shoot the other day.

Yo Buddy!

Depending on the traffic, less than two hours - 108 miles NE.

Depending on when we want to get together, we will put together a PLAN so all can stay at the guest house (10 bedrooms) at Four Winds Peace Center. The Center is currently in hiatus ATM.   :P

Personally, we want this to take place this year - August or September seems about right for lead time...   ???

Aside from rejoicing in person, what might be the agenda for such a meeting?

Looking at the scenery?    :P

We are fully capable of hosting such an event, if there is sufficient interest and intent.   ;)

What size tires are needed for that van?

BTW, we have the capability to videotape a 'conference' and bring in those across the waters at the same time to participate.

Greetings:

Thank you for your kind words.

No one, no shyster mortgage company,
nor any government entity
will ever deny me of my home.

We enjoy a dozen chainsaws - all Stihl - ranging from three 192 climbing saws - 12" and 14" (and two MS-200's climbing saws with 16" bars), to the beefed 660 with a 32" bar and a full chisel skip-tooth chain. (The longer bars tend to negatively weight the saw, so 32" is the right choice.)

We have not run into anything that we cannot cut with on-hand equipment (5-foot diameter trees are toast).   :P

My personal favorite is my 'beefed' 192 with a 14" inch narrow kerf bar and a 'Georgia skip-tooth' full-chisel chain.  :P

Light it up and hang on!

Once upon a time,
there once was a Bug
that gnawed on a tree...
but, that’s another story.

Bug out!

So, when we are away from the keyboard -
and our 'other' life 'here' takes precedence -
we are engaged in the tree business.

As volunteer firefighters/first responders,
we already specifically respond to trees on houses
during times of national disasters, i.e. hurricanes, tornados, etc.

Sometimes, you just get plain lucky and have
disaster relief work 'delivered by providence'
to your locale (with no injuries) ...
and a paying job, to boot (pun).   ;D

This story is about a few trees on a client/friend’s house

caused by a localized microburst (of course, HAARP-induced,
trying to vaporize AmaterasuSolar, thorfourwinds and the Rabun Mothership at one time)  ...

HA HA... missed Amy by about 3,000 feet, and the Mothership by 5 miles...
of course, the plasma neutralizers were on, as always.

Hey Thor

How ironic that this thread shows up today. I was telling my Brother in law about your place just hours ago at our family renunion. I was wondering if any plans have been made yet for a get together. Ifit is not top secret and I am not invited. :-X I would love to get some readings in the mountains. What is your altitude?

My brother in law was asking how is the fishing. He got a 3 1/2 lb bass at mom and dads lake today.

by the way, do you have a running stream on your estate? just curious, for if you do we need to discuss setting up a power generation system for team Rabun; relatively low-tech, medium maintenance, but high amp output...

keep us advised on a projected date for the meeting...

THOR you need to install a RAM pump ;) we had one where i was bought up I loved the "ka pump" noise it made from the ram house down near the stream/spring up the pipe to the reservoir.

what a cool invention yet so bloody simple. now if you cannot harness one of those for power there must be something very wrong.it's a no brainer.just a thought buddy.

nice work on the tree felling ;) there just aint the roots to keep them things in the ground pal.
still some nice timber or logs.looks like it could do with thinning out.

I had to look up the word Segue (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/segue) LOL :P

I see a fortune in natural outdoor furniture there TFW!! We have a local man that takes your old fallen trees here in SF, SD and turns it into some very high end Picnic and lounging furniture. It is created as he see's fit for what it exemplifies from it's natural state.

Though a bit time consuming for the creation of such relaxing lounge furniture, I have seen sets of his go for more than $5,000 USD, so may be something to think about. Heck, you have all the materials already at your finger tips!! ;)

Either way, I envy your place of residence, I can only dream of living in such tranquil beauty, can see why you have such a compassion for your beloved Rabun, I too would never want to leave it either.

Identification in question at this time - anyone have knowledge of this?

We truly hope this was not a mistake, but it did not fit the profile of a friendly.

Besides that, it provided a real-world food acquisition technique review.   :P

I am almost 100% positive it is a Corn Snake TFW, I have friends that raised them for pets.

And they are found in your neck of the woods as natural habitat areas for the USA.

Quote
Natural habitat

Wild corn snakes prefer habitats such as overgrown fields, forest openings, trees, palmetto flatwoods and abandoned or seldom-used buildings and farms, from sea level to as high as 6,000 feet.

Typically, these snakes remain on the ground until the age of 4 months old but can ascend trees, cliffs and other elevated surfaces. They can be found in the southeastern United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southeastern_United_States) ranging from New Jersey to the Florida Keys and as far west as Texas.
In colder regions, snakes hibernate during winter. However, in the more temperate climate along the coast they shelter in rock crevices and logs during cold weather, and come out on warm days to soak up the heat of the sun, a process known as thermoregulation. During cold weather, snakes are less active and therefore hunt less.

Corn Snakes Natural Habitats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corn_snake#Natural_habitat)

There are different species Types of these Corn Snakes, but, compared to most, quite Harmless and rather nice to have a round to get rid of the Rodent's and disease carrier's of such four legged Varmint's .

This is the color Corn Snakes turn before they begin their Shed, they turn almost white in color and return to brilliant Orange after the process. ;) So, I personally think this particular Snake picture you posted is of a "Corn Snake" just before it sheds it's skin.

As for aggressiveness, it is a snake that feeds on other rodents and such, if they are hungry or threatened, they will defend as any other snake being aggressively pursued or feeling tormented would react. When they are famished, they will get more aggressive, but after they feed, they are good for about 10-14 days before hunt begins again for sustenance.

Quote
Still awaiting more 'proof,' folks.

Wouldn't steer you wrong my friend, if I wasn't this sure, I would have said nothing about the inquiry as to it's Species Type. ;)

Quote
Thank you, Bill, for the personal experience reply.

I have seen these Species of Snakes in every phase of their growth, this one is only a bit different due to it's advanced age, and keep in mind, they can get up to several feet long, so, no real 'Mystery' here, just nature in it's changing phases my friend.

This is a tough one.

Our beloved family member Little Bit passed Friday, January 10, 2014, on a cold, damp rainey afternoon in North Georgia.

Our 15-year beloved family member had a stroke 5 weeks ago and even with the 4 ounces of Essiac tea twice a day and round-the-clock love and attention, her condition attempted to stabilize, but soon deteriorated to the point of no return.

The last two days, I hand-fed her rare rib-eye steak and pork chops after she eschewed her favorite Gravy Train, augmented with cheeseburgers and Love.

After not being able to walk without falling over for most of Thursday and not being able to rise, shivering and convulsing on that fateful morning, I took her to our friend Dr. George Lent, the person who has cared for her since spaying.

After a lengthy consultation and every avenue explored, we came to the conclusion that this was not a quality life for my friend any more and, and he gave her a shot to put her asleep in my arms... the above picture.

After I left, he gave her the shot to stop her heart and afterward took her to his farm and provided a dignified interment in the hospital pet cemetery in the Blue Ridge mountains...Eternity with a view.

We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle...even though 15 years seems like a very long time.

Now, as I write this, on another rainy day in North Georgia, I can still feel Little Bit's presense...a warm glow comes through the tears, slowly creeping down through my fingertips to the surface of the now-wet keyboard.

I feel that I gave as good as I got from the relationship that started when she came into my possession at 4 weeks, a rather small being - the runt of a 9-pup litter - and I treasured every moment we shared.

Some of my fondest moments revolve around life with Little Bit. I feel I did every thing right by Little Bit and she did right by me. Little Bit has brought me so much joy and happiness - almost a quarter of my adult life - I will never forget her.

People may surprise you with unexpected kindness, but dogs have a depth of loyalty that often we seem unworthy of.

I feel very lucky to have shared that 15 years of unconditional love and I will cherish that feeling the rest of my life. Instead of being heartbroken and babbling like a fool the past few days, I have pulled myself together now and programmed this into my consciousness:

My heart is filled with Unconditional Love for All Beings.

They say when you die and go to heaven all the dogs and cats you've ever had in your life come running to meet you.

Until that day, rest in peace, my dear friend Little Bit.

I have a thing for dogs, they love me on sight, probably because i love them & they can sense it.
I hope that when we pop our clogs that we will meet them again.
I'll be meeting at least 15 dogs and 4 cats, probably all at once ;)
Feeling for you,
Luke

Greetings:

As a part of our (forever) ongoing pet loss therapy,
we have manifested LBT2 (Little Bit Two) in our experience this lifetime to ease the transition from LBT1 passing...
we still lose it when seeing a pic    :'(

Here is LBT1 in laser therapy in the transition week...we really believed she would bounce back with appropriate love and therapy.    :-*

Naww :)

Well, as some of you may recall, by baby boy (puddy cat) went missing whilst he was seeking some female feline company the other month, 'God' be with him.

Fast forward to today, and I've been away at a friends for about two weeks where I have been spotting a dreary looking young female cat lurking around the street corner.

I bought her some food when I went past the other day, alas, she disappeared, but today I found her again and managed to give her a sauage and some dry food.

A local informed me she had been abandoned and was apparently new to the area.
I wasn't sure if she had a local home or not as there is a collar on her neck.

Now I know she's homeless, I'll be more than willing to take her home with me in two weeks time, I just hope she stays in the local area until that time.

No need for starving animals whens the shops are full of chow.

....

On a side note, the Chinese are pissing me right off.. Can somebody remind them that we are NOT supposed to eat our companions!

Keep up the good work guys!

Went through many such pretty ice storms in Toronto  I was thankfull that I had installed a block heater in my car because I used to ski in Ottawa and you needed a heater there to strat your car

That saved chipping 1 inch thick ice off the car :P

Pretty pictures indeed  I assume the Rescue team is making some bucks?

I mean we have been seeing pictures like THIS from out east while we are in the high 80's already (and so is Alaska :P )

It is not 80 degrees in Alaska.  I responded to your post in the other thread where you mentioned that.

80 degrees in Alaska is one of those things you read that jumps out at you right away. Check ANY weather service and you'll see the temps are in the 30's and and low 40's....a bit warm but nowhere near 80!

And you fuss about the BS that gets curculated on facebook.  You're better than this Z.

Greetings:

Another tough one.

BooBoo Bear, our adopted Rottweiler of some 14 years (making him 16+), has gone to doggie heaven, on my birthday, 18 May 2015, yesterday at 11:11 am EST.

He was diagnosed with bone cancer after his right front leg started swelling up a couple of months ago and one vet suggested to put him down, as there was no cure.

That did not sit well, so my friend, Tree Carver and I set out on a course of alternative therapy based on Essiac tea, made into a poultice soaked with vodka and softening his food with Essiac tea.

It worked - somewhat - as the swelling went down, but he quit eating and became quite weak a couple of days ago and signaled that it was time.    :'(

Yesterday morning, we had him resting in the shade, when he barked very strangely and beckoned me to him.

I picked up his head and cradled him in my lap and he looked up at me for about a minute, licked my hand and closed his eyes for the last time . . .  :-*

Until We Meet In Heaven
All good things
Must come to an end,
And today I said goodbye
To my very best friend.

The house will seem so still,
Now that he's gone.
There'll be no one to wake me up
To go outside at dawn.

His bowls will sit there empty,
But I'll leave them in their place.
No more will water drip down
from his thirsty, furry face.

There'll be no one to bark
When the mail person comes by.
It's going to be one of those moments
When I'm sure I'll want to cry.

But I know the day will come,
When my tears will finally fade,
And I'll focus on the good times,
and all the fetch we played.

So until the day that we
Can be together once again,
I'll keep your memory alive
'Til we meet in Heaven, my friend.

R.I.P BooBoo Bear . . . we love you.

Now, as I write this, on another rainy day in North Georgia, I can still feel Bear's presense...a warm glow comes through the tears, slowly creeping down through my fingertips to the surface of the now-wet keyboard.

Weird, just changed the name from Little Bit to Bear   :(

Alaska sets new record for earliest day with temperatures in the 90s

May 28, 2015
It’s been a warm, dry spring for much of interior Alaska. On the afternoon of May 23, a new statewide record was set for the earliest day in the year with a temperature in the 90s. A daytime high of 91°F was noted by a cooperative observer in Eagle, where temperatures have been recorded (with some breaks) since the 1890s.

http://www.climate.gov/news-features/event-tracker/alaska-sets-new-record-earliest-day-temperatures-90s

This is weird  Total flip  and here we are in Nevada in the middle  Its been cool all May No AC needed and its still below 90 during the day

But look at this  and the rains are flooding Texas and Oklahoma bringing out snakes and even tube worms from the backed up sewers in huge masses

It's a little out of the way (and pocket) for me, but it looks like an excellent place to spend a few days relaxing. :)

Gotta just LOVE the way those morons use a $50,000 Bobcat to protect a $600 shed.

What is more insane than the fool on the ladder, is the fact that it looks like 'a professional' working as ground man.

Nope, you will NEVER find me in a tree on a ladder.

This is my style:

Just wanted to archive this post here because it has to do with wildfires.

(from this thread) http://www.thelivingmoon.com/forum/index.php?topic=1642.0

BTW, Barricade Fire Blocking Gel (http://www.firegel.com) is USFS approved and completely environmentally friendly = benign.

florida has your rain. it has rained every day for over 2 weeks now, and not just once a day but off and on, all day long.  it's like a very gentle monsoon.  we need to reroute water when it's overly abundant and other states don't have enough.

Greetings:

It's been being done for over 50 years.

China To Increase Weather Manipulation Program Started in 1958... (http://www.thelivingmoon.com/forum/index.php?topic=1643.0)

And this report is merely the tip of the Titanic iceberg.

Heck, we were doing it in the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia TOA... must be someone out there that remembers Project Popeye - did you ever have dry socks?

Quote
A pilot program known as Project Popeye conducted in 1966 attempted to extend the monsoon season in order to increase the amount of mud on the Ho Chi Minh trail thereby reducing enemy movements.

A silver iodide nuclei agent was dispersed from WC-130, F4 and A-1E aircraft into the clouds over portions of the trail winding from North Vietnam through Laos and Cambodia into South Vietnam.

Positive results during this initial program led to continued operations from 1967 to 1972.

While the effects of this program remain disputed, some scientists believe it resulted in a significant reduction in the enemy’s ability to bring supplies into South Vietnam along the trail.

Re: North Florida underwater

We wust returned from St. Marks and all points east of there in a line along Hwy. 90 through Live Oak to Jacksonville... the First Responder fireman thing... not near as much tree damage as the media would have you believe... but a lot of places still underwater and more hazardous, many roads still have over two feet of water in the low spots, making access impossible to regular vehicles.

We were in my high-water Jeep Cherokee (8" lift on 35x12.50's), fuel injection, etc.) so had no problems - never used 4WD the whole time there.

All folks evacuated that needed to be, no fires due to electrical equipment malfunctioning underwater, no gas leaks - we got out of it pretty good, except for all the water damage.

Better than Out West, where it is near impossible conditions to fight a fire, much less consider containment in the near future... one can only pray for rain, because it doesn't appear that the UDGOV will assist, as it would tip their hand - that's right - The Pink Hand - as to Weather as a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather in 2025 (http://www.thelivingmoon.com/forum/index.php?topic=1643.0)

Nanotechnology also offers possibilities for creating simulated weather.  A cloud, or several clouds, of microscopic computer particles, all communicating with each other and with a larger control system could provide tremendous capability.

Interconnected, atmospherically buoyant, and having navigation capability in three dimensions, such clouds could be designed to have a wide-range of properties.

They might exclusively block optical sensors or could adjust to become impermeable to other surveillance methods.

They could also provide an atmospheric electrical potential difference, which otherwise might not exist, to achieve precisely aimed and timed lightning strikes.  Even if power levels achieved were insufficient to be an effective strike weapon, the potential for psychological operations in many situations could be fantastic.

One major advantage of using simulated weather to achieve a desired effect is that unlike other approaches, it makes what are otherwise the results of deliberate actions appear to be the consequences of natural weather phenomena.

In addition, it is potentially relatively inexpensive to do.

According to J. Storrs Hall, a scientist at Rutgers University conducting research on nanotechnology, production costs of these nanoparticles could be about the same price per pound as potatoes.

This of course discounts research and development costs, which will be primarily borne by the private sector and be considered a sunk cost by 2025 and probably earlier.

And this from the Zorgon:

Have scientists discovered how to create downpours in the desert? (http://www.thelivingmoon.com/forum/index.php?topic=207.msg1829#msg1829)
