Ive heard John mention more than once in interviews that his dad cut him out of the will. I dont think I could do that to my own flesh and blood unless they were a special kind of heinous or drug addict, and neither of those are John

A google search shows bill lears net worth in the millions, he couldnt even throw him a bone? I dont know the story there and no one has to get into details but thats pretty messed up

I don't even know the details of that. It's not something that comes up in conversations and really is none of my business anyway. I do have photos of John and his dad that seem they were happy. I know it had something to do with continuing Lear Jet company

Quote
Im glad to help out John, wish I could do more

It all in the numbers. John has so many people on his friends list that just a few dollars from everyone helps and adds up. I myself am tight as well but I tossed in $20.00 to get it going...  If everyone he knew tosses in 10.00  it would soon add up...

We had the same idea for Pegasus  with 4 million hits a month and 86,000 or so being unique, just a single $1.00 from all of them and you can do the math

But it seems that only dear friends that are not that well off themselves step forward  (and it is HUGELY appreciated)

Follow your heart but never cut yourself short. The way the Universe works, it IS the THOUGHT that counts

It's almost always people that are doing it hard contribute, your right Zorgon.

Why, because there have been times when we have been scratching around for food to feed ourselves, pay bills, etc.

With all his health problems this stress does not help John, he should be sitting back taking it easy, but unfortunately his not.

I pray that this amount he needs gets there quickly.

I know that I know nothing - thanks Capricorn.

Greetings World:

Since I have (temporarily) been without my lovely home, I have at least one, but maybe two, heavy duty window air conditioners one year new that I am willing to gift and deliver to Las Vegas next week.

What a great reason to meet John and Ron in person!

That is a very kind gesture Thor.

If John hadn't already gone ahead with the installation I'd have recommended a standalone AC. You can get them from 7k to 12k BTU for $300 to $500, depending upon where you are, of course.

I've posted this for the benefit of other members as well. No one has to suffer this hot weather without relief.

I've done this research because I've considered such a unit for my master bedroom. It's always a bit too warm while the rest of the house is very cool.

Well John doesn't need an air conditioner, he needs to pay his mortgage. He already took care of the cooling part....(BTW, John and Marilee have a huge house, takes up almost half a block.)

But I'm sure anything will help...

I don't know him, so I didn't know that he has a huge house but, yes, I knew he'd already replaced it.

As I wrote, I put it out there more for informational purposes. Something is better than nothing. It might help someone else.

yes I was already considering that too  get three of them 2 small (10x15 room) and 1 lrg for master bedroom as backup in case mine goes out.  Not in the budget right now but you can sometimes find them in craigslist used  At least you have a cool room

But yes John has an insanely huge house for his current situation. At least now they are seriously looking for a way out. Not easy to pack up that place

if you (that's a general you) are not aware of this  let me share

http://www.auctionzip.com

i am not an online bidder but i do like the in person auctions
by typing in your zip you can see what is around you..you pick the distance

we have one about an hour away that is weekly.. most sites have pictures and descriptions and most will now take phone in bids..

but i have found a lot of things at the one we used to go to.. i say use to because you can get carried away with some stuff...and right now we're good on stuff

for instance i picked up three nice wheelbarrows for 9 bucks
and a brand new delong dehumidifier for 26..price them in the store..

good luck

Air Conditioner

Its the middle of the summer here in Las Vegas, daytime temperatures reach 110 degrees, night time up to 88 degrees and my livingroom/kitchen air conditioner goes belly up. The AC company offers to plug the leak of ac gas but find there are too many and the air conditioner is too old.

So what to do? I am in the middle of obtaining or rather trying to obtain a refi as the Bank of America mortgage payment was $3800/mo and BoA sold the mortgage to SLS and the payments went to $5300. So I am trying to hang on until I can get a reasonable refi. The only possibility is to buy a new ac. Price: $5500 with installation.

I would appreciate any help in paying for this air conditioner. My father (developer of the 8 track stereo and Learjet) and I didn't get along so he left me out of his will. I have worked as a commercial pilot for the past 40 years but retired at FAA mandatory age 60,  15 years ago. No pension, no retirement.

If I can get the air conditioner paid for I can hang on until the refi comes through.

I am in extremely poor health and cannot walk without the aid of a pushcart. My wife Marilee and I will be extremely grateful for any help, even if its only a few dollars.  The new air conditioner went in yesterday and I had to use the money I was saving for the mortgage payment to pay for it. Anything will help! All the best, John Lear.

Did John just say from over 3,000 to 5,000 a month for his mortgage.

I know he has a lot of important stuff everywhere in his house, but at this stage I think I would be net looking for a smaller house where he doesn't have to pay such a high mortgage every month.
