I have to agree with and stand for my buddy Armap: last time I looked, WW1 and WW2 happened in the 2Oth century along with the cold war... and unless I slipped timelines this is the 21st century,no?  8)

Yah Yah Yah, ya'll know what I meant to put.

Infact I didn't give a spectrum as to in which way I was describing the centuries, WW1 was within the last 100 years (just) , which is a century you know.. and Nuclear war IS a possibility within this 21st century, or even over then next 100 years (which is a century) taking us into the 22nd century..

See, I can play shmart arshe to  ;)

The fact that you didn't provide your own definition made me use the standard definition, the one that puts us on the 21st.

If you wanted to say "within the last century" you should have said it instead of saying something and expect other people to read those sentences in the way you wanted them to be read.

My turn to pick some nit. Sinny is correct. A century is 100 years and only if you add extra words like 20th or 21st do you define it to a specific time in history. If a person is a centry old they are 100 years old. So 2014 back to 1914 is a century in time. 19th to 20th century is a specific time. If you say I lived in 2 centuries you are refering to breaking a "th" date.

World war 1 started on 28 July 1914  so her usage of the word is good for a few more days. .Today being 25 July 2014. Good one Sinny. You win.......

Ah, symantics.  How we love thee.

Seems every generation cries end times.  It's worse now than ever.  Yet the sun always rises and greets a fresh new day.

My garden is doing wonderful.
Time is the fire in which we burn.

I would legitimately state "its all an illusion"
Because I always offer the synthesis :)

That's how you answer when people ask you "what time is it"? :)

Then you are asking for a very specific set of time. If I asked you if you were a century old how old would you be. Ok what year is it or are you 25 years old. Your birth year and my year are very different. We also give each year a specific name like childred so we can love them better. Father time gives us a new year every Jan 1st. But that is not everyone New Year. Our is always 1 to 2 months later. Your years have names like 1969 yet here they have names like dragon or rat. It is a measure of time that can be given exact names so you can talk History. Give up ArMaP, Sinny won by 3 days. All time is this way. It has a unit and can have a specific name also if we wish to give it one. Like the 70s or the good old years. The best hour of my life. It only took a second. we could go on forever. She won. You should just pass her the crown and get back on topic.

I completely disagree.

In what other century was there 2 world wars?
And it what other century was Thermo Nuclear war a near possibility? In what other century would be all be tracked monitored and hearded like cattle?
ok, my little british bird and deuem, above you stated "in what other century"
which denotes it was other than the current one...

now the way I was taught that happened last century,i.e. the 2Oth, just as the american revolution was in the 18th and the american civil war in the nineteenth...

and yes, deuem, it hasn't quite been a century since it started, but it did happen last century  :P :P :P :P
